Hello Forum Users
We recently asked for your feedback on the Family and Friends' section of our Stop It Now! website. Thank you to those who contributed, we had a fantastic response which we are really pleased about. We have now collated the results of the survey and are looking at ways in which we can incorporate your suggestions.
The feedback we received was very encouraging almost 97% of those who responded had accessed this section of the website, with almost 69% of individuals agreeing that the website was easy to navigate.
We asked for any recommendations on improving the website and are undertaking a staged process that will incorporate as many of these changes as possible. We cannot implement all changes immediately, especially as some require additional funding, but we want to make the Family and Friends section as helpful as possible, so we are grateful for all suggestions.
The first phase of changes should come in early November and hopefully you will see the following information added or more easily accessible:
Making it easier to find the Family and Friends Forum
More links to other resources
Coping strategies for mental health
Self-care
Information on the impact of a loved one being arrested including PTSD
Information on where to gain practical support
Information to help you understand why people offend online or have sexual thoughts about children.
Once again thank you for your opinions and input, these are so important to us, and we look forward to continuing to support you and your families during this difficult time.

On the subject of links to other resources and practical support. Is it LFF's intention to provide links to other organisations and how does that fit with their approach to people recommending or promoting things on the forum? I have just looked at the existing resources page and it only contains information about resources that LFF itself produces.
We do see people recommending other organisations, such as StopSO for example, on the forum and often people will post links to other websites too. I don't have a problem with that, in fact I would encourage it.
But at the same time, we are told that we can not 'promote' things on the forum. One example that I saw recently is solicitors firms and then there is a certain podcast as well, which dare not even speak it's name on the forum, because some people have objected.
I think it would be helpful, if LFF could restate its policy on recommending or promoting other (non LFF) resources.

Can I just say that alongside this forum I've found the 'podcast that dare not speak its name' immensely helpful and think it's a shame that it's not promoted here so others can benefit from it.
I arrived too recently to have completed the survey, but there's a UX issue I'd like to raise - if it's not too cheeky to walk in late and suggest rearranging the furniture.
Often I can see only one or two of the recently updated topics on the first page, because the pinned topics take up most of the screen.
It would be useful to have an option to either collapse the list of pinned topics, or have an option to individually to mark them as read, so that they no long push newly updated normal topics off the page.

Hi edele20 and all forum users,
We have read this thread with great interest given the comments being made about the way in which the Family and Friends forum is run. We will always sign-post people to other charitable organisations or services that we may or may not have an affiliation with, and whose work we are familiar with, such as StopSO, which is why we allow forum users to recommend such services. If there is signposting towards companies, organisations, services or products that we are not familiar with or which we know or believe to be commercial, then we have to approach with caution due to the duty of care we have towards our forum users. This is especially the case in situations where concerns are raised by multiple forum users.
If there are organisations or services that people wish to share on the forum which you think will be helpful to other forum users, then please get in contact with us to discuss this and we can look in to it. You can email us at forum@lucyfaithfull.org.uk
The Family and Friends section of the Stop It Now! website already refers to some organisations/services but the feedback from the survey indicates these are hard to find so the team are restructuring some of it and also adding some additional ones. Once this has been completed, we will share the details of how to access this on the forum.
Please remember that you are more than welcome to share the details of any organisations, services and products that you wish to through the direct messaging service.
Take care,
The Forum Team
