Returning devices

Hi everyone.
After the initial search of my partners devices, nearly all of them were seized.
Two of those devices were his work devices. My partner assures me that neither of these were used except for work stuff. It's currently been 5 months since the search and we (of course) haven't heard anything since.
He has now been off work sick since the arrest, partly due to his devices being seized (and therefore can't work as he is a remote worker) and partly because of his drug addiction.
Has anyone had any success receiving these devices back if calling/asking the police for them? I know there is a huge backlog and my partner doesn't want to call the police in fear that it "makes them focus on him".
He also can't tell his work why he doesn't have these devices. With the cost of living and with him dropping to half pay, this is another thing on top of everything already.
Has anyone else dealt with this and, if so, what did you do?
Thanks everyone

Are the police aware of which items are work devices? I'm not sure if this is the case but I would assume the police could focus on those first but there is a risk they would return direct to the employer if your person doesn't actually 'own' these devices...that is something to consider.
My partner got his devices that didn't have any iioc back a few months before sentencing. It it was bit by bit and no chasing for updates helped.

In our case my husband had used a tablet at work so the police had his work IP address they searched his work and found device which he had smashed up but they still took it ! They also took my husbands phone laptop and another tablet SIM cards and dvds 3 weeks into the knock I rang police and asked for laptop back as my son needed it for gcse work about 2 weeks after that everything but the working tablet was returned . They returned the broken tablet back to my husbands work which has obviously been a nightmare . If you explain that the laptop is your husbands living I'm sure you will get it back .
My husband had 6 devices taken, one was a phone which was critical for work which they returned within a week. The ipad which he also said was important was returned in 3 months but less critical. These items had nothing illegal on them. The other items are in a very very long queue.
My person was arrested for communication so I don't know if that makes a difference. He was given his work phone back on the evening of the arrest, his laptop back after a few weeks and his phone after a few months.
