My ex partner is supposed to be in crown court next week for sentencing. He went to magistrates court 4 weeks ago, pleaded guilty and on the day the judge gave him a date for crown court and sentencing. charges are iioc- all 3 categories.

He has a solicitor who has advised him that they have asked for sentencing to be adjourned as they wanted the PSR to include a psycho evaluation and so are arranging for the PSR to be done externally rather than through CPS.

He hasn't been contacted by anyone other than his solicitor and still hasn't had the PSR yet.

Although we are separated, he has been honest with me since, but he doesn't appear to know what is going on! Solicitor supposedly specialises in these offences, but doesn't appear to know what the process is.

Solicitor has told him today that they may have to go to sentencing next week and ask for the adjournment in person.

Is this what really happens? Or will he just get sentenced. What's the likelihood of this going ahead without a PSR.
I'm not sure they have even had a copy of the SHPO yet either.

Hi,

PSR is standard before sentencing as far as I'm aware. The psych report in my persons case was requested by the judge at his initial hearing but I believe that was at crown due to him being denied bail. It caused a lot of delays but it was during covid so that put its own strain on an already strained system.

I don't believe they will go ahead with sentencing if the PSR isn't done prior to this but hopefully someone with more recent experience will answer your question. Try copying it into the discussion and support section xxx
