Just posting here to distract myself from the consistent knocks & doorbell ringing since 5pm.

Wanted to check in with everyone else how is everyone doing with the consistent knocks?

They cause me such anxiety, sitting at home alone with my cat and it's horrible everytime someone knocks or rings the doorbell, brings everything back to that day

I've had a sign up in the last few months that has said please don't ring the doorbell or knock, but it seems to have gone.

is it weird to say that my very chilled out cat even hates it when people knock at the door since the Knock? She goes into this protective mode and growls at the door until they walk away and then comes back to sit with me.

hope everyone else is doing okay

Hi Flo, I am so sorry to know you are struggling this evening. I'm really fortunate where I live as people only knock on the door if you put a pumpkin out by the front door. I haven't put out a pumpkin and so have had no knocks on the door. I hope your trick or treaters soon call it a night as I can only imagine how awful it is for you. Sending you lots of hugs.

Flo, I feel the same. I've just turned the tv up and am ignoring them. Luckily the rain here seems to have put most people off coming out.

Flo I feel exactly the same-to be honest I have hated Halloween for years because when my son was being bullied at school our house was deliberately targeted and we were terrified but the added stress and anxiety I now feel everyday whenever there's a knock at the door is horrible.

im also thinking about the logistics of this regarding the situation that all of us on here are facing-with restrictions and SHPO obviously you can put up a notice to deter trick or treaters but many people have young children who may want to join in so what do you do ???

I just think the whole trick or treat should be stopped by all means have parties at school but going door to door is not on.

I didn't put up decorations and yet had loads of knocks. Was horrid. So thankful it rained so it didn't last too long.

hope all your nerves aren't too jangled, lovely ladies. Hugs to you all

I'm three years post knock and still have times when I feel panicked by people knocking on my door. My normal post man has moved rounds now and the new one practically takes the door off every time he delivers something that won't fit through the letterbox, it terrifies me.

I took little one out for a walk around 6 so she could hand out sweets to people who were trick or treating but my lights have been off for the rest of the evening and fortunately nobody has come knocking.

Wishing everyone a peaceful night xxx

I got a ring doorbell which really helps me with the door knocking trauma . It's gotten so much better since I bought one x

Just a bit of reassurance. This fear does eventually subside. I use to shake with fright if there was an unexpected knock, a car pulling up outside, phone ringing unexpectedly, sight of a police car etc.

None of this bothers me now. Must admit this door bell technology must be very reassuring if you fear any intimidation. Sounds money well spent for peace of mind.

Certainly took a time, I admit, perhaps a year....
