Afternoon lovlies x

Happy Friday check in x we have all survived another week and I hope it has been kind to you all x

A pretty uneventful week for me to be honest but work has kept me busy, it has turned so cold the last few days and we are at something like 45 days until xmas, I get paid monthly so 2 more paydays to go!

I might venture out tomorrow and get a few bits just little stocking fillers etc,

This year will be so different we are used to my son not been here but with my daughter and her boyfriend moving in to there own place I can totally understand them wanting there first one in their own place, but she feels guilty as it will be me and my eldest on our own bless her I have told her not to be silly and to enjoy there own little xmas without worrying, so this year it is going to be a first and I am thinking stuff it we can get a takeaway, I can be in my pjs with the heating on watching films is that so wrong?

I hope your weekend is kind to you all, love sent as always xx

We have made it through another week. Hooray!! I love Christmas but have always had the mindset that it's just a day and tried not be precious about it. Enjoy it the way you want to or don't :)

Hi, First time I've commented on the Friday check in so here goes........

I've had an ok week, got back to the gym and I know this helps my mental health. Also got my diagnosis for ADHD so started meds and my brain has calmed a little (OCD thinking about the case has lessened)

I have been angry with social media this week and the dark side of it as that's how my person got involved. I know he has to be held accountable but I'm also feel angry.

I spoke to Stop It now as I want to share my story anonymously, I really don't want any other parents and vulnerable adults to feel or go through what we have (or anyone, but I suppose my story goes on that journey) and if I can save one then that's a bonus.

Our journey should be over in a few weeks, Crown Court is looming. I'm worried about the press but I can't control that so I can only hope.

Wishing you a peaceful weekend

I have actually started my Christmas shopping, thank you Upset Mum for the motivation. I'm determined that I will enjoy the buildup to christmas and am planning a couple of treats and outings for the Grandchildren.
I am going to be spending some of this weekend with my sisters so I have something nice to look forward to for the weekend.

My son is still struggling to find a job but at least he's not given up and is continuing to try. He gets interviews but always seems to be asked why he left his previous job and when he tells them the truth they turn him down.

I'm sending a big hug to all those that need one and thank you all for the love and support I get from here.

Hi, hope you are all doing ok and had a good week. My husband had two appointments with social work this week for the criminal social work report. She was very judgemental and we aren't hopeful of a decent report but I suppose we just need to keep going. Hope you all have a good weekend. xx

Hi everyone. Week gone extremely quick but it's been an ok week. Think we've got our Christmas plans mapped out with the family, which is good.

I've even started writing a few cards out......

Son all good - I have missed him so much this week think as it's been the anniversary of his sentencing. I just wish he was home and irritating me, but hey ho these blips happen, we be brave and move on!

Ahh Webb89

My heart really does go out to you but never ever forget how amazing you are x

I am dreading xmas but at the same time I realize how important it is for my daughter to not have to worry, as a mum we just want to be there to pick up the pieces, and make everything ok but in doing that we have to sacrifice our own feelings no matter how difficult,

You will make the best of your own situation xx

What are you going to watch tomorrow?xx

Upset mum, yes we have to make best of our situation.

Going to see The Creator. Heard it is quite good. Crossing fingers. X

I did think at some point in December everyone should do a virtual party and have a drink for xmas. Everyone having a drink at the same time. And then sending a message to each other. The drink could be anything, tea, hot chocolate, Baileys vodka.....i could go on.....

Right, the virual party will involve a xmas jumper or sparkly clothing and to have xmas music on. Lets have it on a Tuesday night as thats half way from the friday check in. What about Dec 13 th? I will remind everyone nearer the time. You can see i take xmas very seriously, lol.....

If that is ok and attendance is optional.....lets though see how many people we can get involved. I will put up a post nearer the time. I am hoping this will confirm that everyone is NOT alone and not alone at xmas. I know i have done some vitual book club that was well recieved so thinking on doing that on a monthly basis.

Hi everyone - great to hear everyone's news on here so thanks again Upset for being the convenor! As usual it's lovely to see any good and positive news but also a chance to send a hug to those who are struggling. I do that mentally as I read each post, even if I don't comment.

Lots of Christmas talk this week. I've no idea what we'll be doing as there are obviously big changes to our usual family gathering so it's probably just my OH and our son for the day and hopefully his children will come to us at some point around the Christmas holidays but we haven't been told when yet. I'm trying to tell myself that it's just a day and it doesn't matter really but after some lovely gatherings in the past I must admit I do feel a bit sad. I'm also a card writer and try to write a personal letter for each one but this year I'd have to be so careful what I write that I might just sign them and leave it at that.

As for this week - well, it turned out to be full of surprises as a friend invited me to go as her 'plus one' to a lunch at Glyndebourne, the opera house, as she's a member and this was a thank you to members for supporting them. I'm not an opera fan really, but I've seen a couple of productions there and actually enjoyed it. After lunch we were the audience for a dress rehearsal so had a great afternoon.

Then I heard that I'd won a ticket for Sunset Boulevard in London with Nicole Scherzinger in the lead. There's a weekly lottery where you say what days you can do and if you're pulled out of the hat you get a ticket for £30, so off I went to London where after awful weather the sun was shining and it was a real lift after so much rain. The show was absolutely amazing but not for anyone who holds the original production as a benchmark as this was a 'reimagining'. NS was so good, who'd have known she could act bonkers reclusive Hollywood star so well?! My seat would have cost £90 if I'd booked myself so I was well chuffed. (If anyone reading likes the theatre, this lottery plus some others, is c/o an app called TodayTix)

Enjoy today's sunshine everyone and sending you all a virtual wave and/or a hug (you choose) xx

Parkerpoo1 i hear you. One year my daughter had to work all over xmas and another one son was abroad for xmas. It is true i had the others but this is what i did. When my daughter was working she worked xmas eve and xmas day. So after her shift on xmas eve, we all stayed up and exchnaged presents then. We then had a Xmas dinner when she got home. We eat lunchtime but changed it to the evening. When my son was abroad we had a xmas dinner before he went. I wrapped one present each so we had a mini xmas before he went. Xmas was not the same but still had the memory. Is any of this possible with your boys? Is there local walking groups in your area. There are a lot where i live all over xmas as people are lonely at this time of year. Xmas is different for us anyway, no family gatherings as no one will spend time with my OH so i have tried to stay positve (not easy in know). X

Parkerpoo I'm not sure if volunteering is your type thing but where I live there are charities and churches offering free Christmas dinners to those in need or those who would otherwise be alone. They provide a great day for those who attend and are always looking for volunteers.

SoTired I'm living without a dishwasher at the moment and we can't really afford to buy one as OH has just lost his job, but I really miss having one!!! You've given me hope, I'm going to save a few pounds a week til the next black Friday sale and buy one then, I'll be exactly a year on too!
