Hiya peeps.

Is there anyone whose person has NOT received a SHPO for a non-contact offence or non sexual communication offence? They seem very restrictive and not in proportion to the offence committed for viewing on-line IIOC. I believe these are suggested by the police, approved by the judge but there is scope to challenge one before sentencing. I would be interested to hear experiences of challenging the SHPO. Thank you.

Good question. SHPOs are automatically applied for and automatically granted in all these cases. A capable solicitor can argue about certain restrictions and get them removed, but avoiding an SHPO entirely is difficult.

The only one I'm aware of is this;

Interesting. We initially went with these solicitors and they were absolutely appalling, I'm amazed they achieve the things they advertised but maybe we got very unlucky. We switched after charges

Our barrister argued it, she felt it was unfair and brought up a case to support it, but the judge reduced it from 20 items to 6 so I'll take that.

Our solicitor is also arguing it. We had sentencing recently but the shpo matter has been adjourned til February. Not sure what will happen, I feel like one will be granted anyway and all it's done is delay the conviction being spent by several months but I suppose it's worth a try
