I'm currently doing a psychology degree and it's talking about drugs and addiction I haven't wanted to do this section and have been dreading this part for obvious reasons.it as made so much sense to me, many things link it all together if I change the word from drugs to porn but I read something earlier and thought i thought it makes so much sense and thought I'd share it with you all.

The drug itself is often the least relevant aspect. For most people with drug problems, the drug itself isn't the problem. Factors such as trauma, poverty, adverse social environments , psychological ability to cope with life and so on are far more important.

I remember my oh saying he wasn't even interested in what was on the screen it was just that it was there. He had childhood trauma and did the typical man thing of struggling to cope and putting on a brave face so that I wouldn't think he was weak or letting anyone think he was less manly. There's so many men out there going through daily struggles and end up getting to the point of no return because they suffer with mental health, have learning disabilities, struggle with social interactions.

I'm sorry I'm rambling I just thought it was quite interesting way of looking at it all. My post is abit pointless really

I would be curious to know, if the people that are teaching psychology these days, actually recognise porn or sex addiction as being an addiction.

The NHS does not regard porn addiction as a real thing, which is why you cannot get any treatment for it, from your GP.

Edel. On my course it listed many things and porn was actually on the list I was quite surprised because I know most don't class it as an addiction
