Hi folks,

Just after some advice and support really. In summary:

23 year old son with FASD, ADHD, Attachment Disorder, undiagnosed Autism and potential PTSD

In the middle of a 5 year SHPO and having been fined previously for deleting internet history was caught in position of indecent images and arrested last week.

He doesn't really "get" cause and effect of his actions and suffers from what I call disassociation where he mentally steps away from what he has done.

Anyway, he's on a real mental health downward spiral and I'm desperately trying to support him and get him the psychiatric evaluation he desperately needs.

First stop is a GP appointment tomorrow and I'd like advice on what else is out there to help him.

Just want an end to it

Hi Stuart,

Sorry to take up a post when I have no advice to offer but had to send my best wishes to you and your son as you are facing such a difficult time. I hope you can use this forum as a soundingboard/advice resource/place to get a virtual hug when needed over the next few months.

Hi Sri, I'm sorry you and your son find yourself here. Have you reached out to LFF to see if they can suggested any other charities or organisations that would be able to help?

There are also other charities in this feild that might be able to help. StopSO, Circles, Safer Living

Many thanks for the responses folks, it really means a lot to know there are others out there that care.

GP was of little use and referred him for talking therapy which could take months to come through.

Stuart, not exactly what you asked but we are paying for a stopso therapist and the one we have happens to be an ASD specialist. If you can afford it, it's done wonders for my person. Worth making contact and asking!

@just want an end to it - the system won't let me message you as it says I haven't posted on the forum to activate my account. Which I clearly have. CVan you try messaging me please?

My son did a course with Stop So he is not neurodivergant but I believe you could have a therapist who would specialise in this area. We did have to pay I think it was £50 a session. I dont think GPs are clued up on this at all and I honestly dont think the generic NHS talking therapy is specific enough for your sons needs. Sending love and support to you both.
