Well early yesterday morning I received a call from my sister to say they had received The Knock at 7am. The OIC of my OH case was at the door, for her husband, he had a warrant to search the house and remove any digital equipment. The police were only there 10 mins and only took his mobile phone, no arrest or anything, then my OH got a call from his friend to say the same thing had happened to him. Both of these men had sent or received (jokes) in watsapp groups with my OH. There are several others in the watsapp group, but up to now only these 2 have been visited. This is 18months from when my OH first got arrested. My OH has pleaded not guilty to all charges as he says it was nothing more than lads passing around daft videos or images that got sent in jest. This investigation must be costing a fortune and could be virtually never ending, as some of the watsapps said 'forwarded many times'

This bizarre horrible journey has just taken another twist and stirred it all up again just before Christmas

Oh my goodness, I'm so incredibly sad that this is happening to you and your wider circle. Also, I'm sad that public resources are being wasted on such investigations instead of other crucial investigations or support for victims. Please pass on our love and support to your sister and friend xxx

Wow - I do wonder what they are trying to achieve other than prove a point that they were justified in arresting your husband in the first place. I'm sorry that other families are being drawn into this just before Xmas.

Pippin,

I think that's exactly what it's all about. The OIC is a Detective and extremely arrogant, he was fuming my OH was pleading not guilty and the judge has been quite positive in our favour so far, he asked how this was in the public interests and asked why was nobody else being targeted from the watsapp group. This Detective doesn't want to be beaten so think it's become personal for him. I just pray it all comes back to bite him and he's held accountable for how much this has all cost

Despite the amount of resources being pumped into this, in some ways it's (not sure what the right word to use here is... Good, comforting?) to see this happen. Having seen so many cases come up on here over the years where they only seem to persue one person on a chat.

I was recently in a social setting with some people I didn't know. One of the young men was drunk and got his phone out and said "who wants to see this man f? %img a horse" he was ignored and eyebrows raised at the bizarre behaviour but it is an example at how extreme pornography is shared, more as humour and not because they are sexually attracted to horses. I wanted to reach out and tell him this was illegal and he could get into trouble, had I been closer to him on the table I might have but it would have stood out of I did.

Oh my goodness what a ridiculous waste of resources. Definitely sounds personal from the detective. It's not just the cost to tax payers re the police investigation, but also social services resources, probation, accommodation costs potentially, trauma to children ...the list goes on

Sounds like the OIC is the same ilk as the one who was involved with us. Surely to God they aren't incompetent to see the difference between inappropriate and something that deserves to be investigated?! The law clearly states what is illegal but it's down to our justice system to apply common sense and utilise resources accordingly. This is shocking.

Just want an end to it

Sal,

There was an element of relief that its not just my OH, obviously previous to this we had the rumour mill going, ' well must be more to it, why only him' etc,.

It certainly wasn't anything as bad as someone doing that with a horse, it was a dead fish ! Why people want to send things like that is beyond me, but I get that lads send these daft things as jokes.

There really isn't enough awareness that you can get in serious trouble for sharing these things.

Perhaps if the police put the same time and effort into raising awareness or if social media removed these kinda images instead of thinking its easy pickings for the police.

The consequences for my OH being sent this daft video could result in losing his job, he's been suspended for 18months so far, it's cost us an absolute fortune in legal bills. Its had a massive impact on him an our 2 children.

I just don't get what the police think this is achieving, other than the OIC being smug if he wins. It will leave our family in a right mess
