Family member has sentencing tomorrow.

I'll be checking online for a week to see if it comes out in the media but how long dies it take? If there's nothing after a week does that mean it's not going to come out? When can we breathe a sigh of relief that its not out there?

hi there, sorry your going through all this I've been there with family member and its is very harrowing , the press were there well one reporter , it was a Thursday and the next Wednesday it was on the online paper article Facebook page and then our experience was not a good one so around 1 week but it just depends I suppose how quickly they want to run the article , the press aren't always there remember but the waiting and wondering I know how you feel and sorry your having to go through those thoughts and feelings x

You will have a good idea if the press are there as they will be sat in the public gallery. When I asked this question I was given the advice that if after a week nothing had been reported then there was a good chance it wouldn't be. That didn't stop me checking constantly for about a month afterwards though, as it was one of my biggest fears too. We also came off all social media. Good luck tomorrow x

Lots of love and best wishes for you both tomorrow.

My persons case was reported online a few hours after he had been in court and in the local paper the following week. It was one of our biggest fears but like everything else in this journey, we got through it.

Just want an end to it

We had no one in the gallery but I am still checking 3 weeks later!! It was a small courtroom and they would have had to sit next to me, but my heart went every time the court door opened throughout the case, it was always just a Clarke. I screened the waiting room checking everyone out too haha. We also came off Socials

Good luck, Will be thinking of you

I was so worried about the court reporter but they weren't there on the day of sentencing.

What I didn't realise until about six weeks later is that the Police put the offenders mug shot, name, age, road they live in on their local County FB page. For us it was horrendous.

Heartbrokenmess, so sorry someone has spoken out wr kept it to strictly family who needed to know, then at sentence we told other close friends which I am glad as it hit the media the people who have judged the most are people who don't really know us

Are the press likely to be in majastrates court or do they mainly go to crown court cases ?

Hi Molly, I think it just depends on your local press. Ours seem to love these type of cases and always try to sensationalise them. They were in magistrates court for plea hearing and published the case online on the same day. There were not in crown court in person for sentencing but must have been there remotely as they did the same thing again, publishing the case on line on the day. On both occassions it took about a week for it to be in the local paper.
