I have just taken 5 minutes out to sit peacefully in my conservatory with a hot chocolate. The Christmas lights are shining, a scented candle is burning and the house is peaceful.

My mind is never still but this evening I am sitting quietly and counting my blessings.
I have a roof over my head, food in the cupboard, clean clothes in the wardrobe. I am mobile and in good health and have a family who love me. I have this forum and all of you wonderful people who I can rely on to support me and show me care and compassion when I need it.

This evening I realise that I need to take more time to appreciate what I have.

What is one thing you are thankful for today?

What a lovely post Ocean........

I am thankful I -plus the people I love are in good health.

Although my sons crime shattered our family and now leaves a lot unsaid, I know they all love me as much as I love them, this means the absolute world to me, always did.

I am thankful for my fantastic neighbours and friends that have listened and supported us in a non judgmental way. Yes, I am grateful for my forum friends who have helped me more than they will ever know.

Hearing that a lovely young friend has had a healthy baby girl and (if I can have two!) spending a final night with our daughter before she flies back to her home far away, and sharing her excitement that she and her partner have found engagement rings for each other (they do it so differently nowadays, don't they?) She is gay and her girlfriend looked terrified when my husband jokingly complained that she hadn't asked his permission!!!!

I am grateful for my health and the good health of my close friends and family.

I grateful that I have squirrelled away some savings for a rainy day.

I am grateful for my two daughters and that they are doing well in different ways. My 15 year old daughter hasn't let this horrible situation we find ourselves in get her down and gets in the way of her school life. We had her parents evening tonight and she is doing well.

We are grateful that our other daughter, our 18 year old, is in a much better place than she was last year and looking forward to the arrival of her daughter in April. Pregnancy agrees with her and she has never looked better. She was a vegetarian but the baby has been craving meat, so she looks loads better now she is eating meat again.

I am thankful for my children even if they cause me to lose my mind sometimes lol.

I am grateful that we get a few weeks together over Christmas with my oldest back from uni.

Blessed by all of you amazingly strong people as we stand together in our battles and triumphs.

I hope that 2024 brings you all peace and happiness in abundance xxx

It's so true that sometimes we do just think about what we don't have.

I too am grateful for having a roof over my head and food on the table. Supportive family and friends.

Also that I've found a strength I probably knew was there but I've dug deep to find it. Xx
