I can't sleep anymore, I am thinking all the time how can I help my son. I'm running out of ideas. How do I find a good solicitor, how do i pay for it.

Just so frightened

Oh Mum, my heart really goes out to you. I'm a mum too so know the pain, anxiety and trauma you'll be going through. I just can't imagine how hard it must be to deal with this a second time. Do you have anyone to support you? And how is your son coping?
We're all here for you so keep in touch and keep reaching out to us for support.

Mum I really feel for you and after going through this trauma once (be it with my husband) the thought of a second time is unbearable. Can I suggest reaching out to your GP as a means of support, if you are not sleeping your thought processes will be more chaotic and you will lose the ability to think rationally and practically. I know only too well in the first year I hardly had a decent nights sleep and as a result ended up with physical signs of sleep deprivation. It was only when I gave in to having to go on antidepressants (much to me being totally resistant to even the thought) was I able to think and be more helpful to my husband. Your GP should be non judgmental and be able to signpost you to other services for both yourself and your son. If you have already reached out to your GP it may be advisable to ring LFF for more support. The pain of this is unbearable and I feel for you so much. I hope you manage to get the support you need.

Katie xx

Hi Mum ,

Have you had a quote yet? We had a quote from someone else but it's a lot of money so we may look elsewhere xx

Hi can't sleep anymore, I've had several quotes, most start with a fixed fee. That's seems to be around £6000 including vat. That doesn't include going to Magistrates court or Crown Court.

Some let you pay in instalments, the last solicitor was useless and the Barrister was worse. The way I see it is that I will only get once chance to prevent my son from going to prison, so I need good representation for him. We are desperately trying to save money to pay for this.

Some do legal aid but not many and whether the representation is as good I'm not sure. It's a mine field.

I can't believe I'm here again.
