Morning all,

We had an email yesterday afternoon to say that court date is today. (Has already been postponed a couple of times)

After a long wait I'm hoping we can move forward in some way. Solicitor has said he is ideal candidate for suspended sentence but you just never know. Trying to stay positive without getting my hopes up.

Will update everyone later on. Xxx

Hope the outcome was one to help you move forward.

My son's sentencing is tomorrow. Prepare for the worst but hope for the best.

Thankyou for all the support on this horrendous journey.

Evening all,

thank you so much for all your kind messages.

I'm thankful to say it has been a positive outcome today. 16 months suspended, 10 years on the register and restrictions on devices on the SHPO and contact with under 18's.
He did plead guilty right from the start for contacting 3 underage girls and sending explicit photos / videos.

The judge was really fair as the prosecution tried to push charges into higher categories but she pushed back which was great. There was no press either which was one of the main things I was stressing about as we live in a small town.

My OH has done the LFF course and been to counselling and me and my parents both wrote letters which did help as the judge made reference to them and the impact it would have on our family if he did get a custodial so if you have the opportunity to do that I would recommend it.

It's been 16 months of hell since the day of the knock and as I write this now for the first time in a long time I do feel like there has been a weight lifted and I can start to move forward in some small way.
I do not know what the future holds for me and my OH but only time will tell.

Love to you all xxxx

Well we think it's over with Court. Still dreading a sentence till the point we went in.
Barrister very good & judge fair. Probation pre-sentence report reccommended, Community Order (100 hours + 60 rehab programme) .Judge added 6 months suspended sentence for two years. Registration upped to 10 years!

However SHPO not prepared by police,so needs to be done & possible return for that in February if challenged by defence. Possibly via digital link. We are relieved,we think.

EBP we've got the same situation with the delay for the shpo hearing, really nerve wracking and frustrating that it couldn't all be dealt with on the day

Sorry to hear the sentence was upped but glad that at least it's suspended!

Thanks In the moment

The judge was very unhappy at no available SHPO. Emphasised that she didn't want '18 paragraphs'. It must be pertinent to the charge - not a cut & paste job. The prosecuting solicitor tried to charge for the follow up court appearance, but she gave him short shrift & told him it was the responsibility of the police to have the SHPO ready for today's court date. Hence a video link to action it if we don't contest whatever they decide. It just prolongs the uncertainty.
