Has anyone had their partners arrested for online chat with a minor and police have spoken to the children (not his and not living with us for the last 7 months) what is the timescale that the police would speak to the children ?

Hi,

the police spoke with my daughter, I think it was within the first two weeks after the knock. My person was remanded to custody so I'm unsure if this makes a difference to timescales as it wasn't an interview as such. They came to the house and spoke to me and asked to speak to her while she was there. They didn't make any notes or anything like I presume they would have if it was for any reason other than just as a precaution. I'd already spoken to both of my older children following his arrest to make sure that they had never felt uncomfortable around him or been harmed in any way. My older two aren't his and were 17 (f) and 14 (m). I hope this helps xxx

Thanks, my ex husband is the only one saying that the police want to speak with our two, but my ex partner was arrested nearly 4 weeks ago, released on bail. I would of thought the police would of spoken to my children before now if they were going to, I don't trust my ex husband is telling the truth, so I think I will try and contact the police to ask them.

My OH was IIOC, not communication, but the police never spoke to my children.

I think that the police notify children's services who make contact and talk to the children. If the children make an allegation about the person then the police would need to talk to them, but there is a special procedure for doing this and they wouldn't just turn up to do it at your house. At least I don't think so.

Police seem to have departments within the unit, junior officers that do the visits and talking, and my understanding is that it's down to the judgement of investigating officer. It's what they deem risk or precaution.
My teenager was spoken to on the day of the knock only by the police but since then multiple people spoke to him under the pretence of safeguarding.

The police have never spoken with my children even my adult ones who were historical victims of his crimes as they were not direct contact offences. I have been the only one to give any form of a statement. I chose this so that they wouldn't have to go through court if he had gone not guilty. Even before they discovered his full actions they didn't speak to any of us hardly at all.
