What are people's experience of StopsO counselling?
My son has been quoted £190 per session! Is this the normal amount. The website says £ 50-100.
He is now unemployed and has to do 100 hours community service,so is unlikely to get employment for a while. We can help a bit,but can't commit to this additional expense long term.
Any comments would be appreciated.

£190ph certainly sounds steep although therapists can charge whatever they like I guess and perhaps this one is a specialist or has lots of qualifications. As all the StopSo therapists have done the specialist training our loved ones need then I'm not sure it matters about any extras really. Our son pays £50ph. If he does virtual appointments as well as face to face I can ask my son for his details, although your son might live in the right area for face to face. I can send you the info on the forum's direct messaging if you have it enabled, to keep our locations private.
My OH pays £40, I paid £45. If you want to DM me I can give you details.
might it be that £190 is a course of sessions??

My husband has a good therapist, she charges 70 pounds per session and has the relevant qualifications. She was recommended by his lawyer.
You can pm me for details xx
190 pounds is way too expensive, I wouldn't be paying that.

My son has a very good psychotherapist who he has been with the past 2 years. Sessions are face to face and he pays £60 a session. Initially he was attending each week but it is now only monthly.
My son's is £100 an hour and she has been excellent. £190 seems very excessive. Could it have been a typo? X
Are Stopso aware that he is unemployed? I know that they can offer discounts for some people, but obviously that help is limited.
Hi Edel
He has spoken to the therapist & they were willing to drop to £160, but we/he can't afford that. She has also referred back to StopSO & told them. He is awaiting a response.
Not sure how the benefit system works for someone on the SOR. Are they treated as available for work? And then penalised if they are rejected from most jobs!

Hi,
they're not penalised if rejected by employers, only if they're not actively looking for employment xxx

Just echoing what others have said. My sons was £60 per session through stop so. The quote you have received does seem very high.
Just to add my son was paying £50 and he was excellent, the LFF recommended him for our area xx
