So we had our knock on the door on Thursday morning and still very much reeling from it all. Partner was arrested and charged with talking to an older child. The police have allowed him back home as they have zero concerns with him and our two sons.

But just wondering, by this morning we still hadn't heard anything from SS. The police did say they may not be in touch the same day but I didn't think it would be this long. So I decided to contact them myself and on the call they said that it had just loaded on to their system this morning and that they would look at it now - just waiting for the call back now.

Is this delay a concern at all? I'm worried that things may have changed in regards to partners bail conditions etc.

Any help with this would be amazing, I'm just so anxious with everything right now.

I'm sorry you joined us.

I'm sure they'll allocate you a sw very soon, you've done the right thing by proactively contacting them.

Good luck with your assessment!

Hi,

No, it's normal. My persons knock was also on a Thursday and I called ss when I hadn't heard anything by the Tuesday. They have 7 days to make an initial contact from when they receive the referral. You should hear from them in a couple of days once they've assigned your case to a social worker xxx

Hi guys,

Thank you so much for getting back to me.

I never thought I'd have to be going through this, but so glad to have found this forum for support. It's just such a terrifying place to be right now.

I forgot to mention in the first post that I'm based in Scotland, not sure if that changes anything or are timings just the same all over the UK?

I've been googling up a storm since Thursday but can't find anything on this.

x
