Can anyone advise me where to go to get a private risk assesment.

My husband has 2 years left on his SHPO, ss origionaly said he could return home after this ends. They then changed it to supervised only indefinatly closed the case and said we have to apply for them to reopen the case at the end of his shpo for them to reassess.

They have been shocking in there assements and have lied and put in rubbish its gone to ombudsman but they have managed to lie and get them on side.

I know when the case reopens in 2 years its going to be same again, so i want to save uo and get a private risk assesment done and look at going straight to family court. Any advice on this where to go etc xx

SS recommended an independent forensic risk assessment for us, they messed about so much I got the quotes and sent them to them. They went with one that I sent them Dr Leam Craig. It was hard having it done. We are struggling with SS now making a decision, they have said OH can come home one eve a week for a couple of hours but want to close the case. I don't want them to close the case until we get to where we want to be. We have already had 10 social workers in our lives.

Getting an independent assessment does seem like a smart move to get a fairer evaluation. I hope Bigdee's recommendation of Dr Leam Craig is someone who can provide that for you. It's great they were able to get their OH home, even if just for a short time. Wishing you the very best in getting your case resolved fairly in the end. You're right to advocate strongly for yourself and your family.

We had ours done just before Christmas. Social care paid for it. We both had to have the assessment. 1 appointment was almost all day with his associate the other was a two hour with him and an associate, have to say the two hour was worse. But it all came back good. Now they can't really argue it. They have said a couple of hours in the evening one day and a few hours at the weekend one day. Hoping this is to begin with.

Hi Frustrated21

We has our assessment done by Dr Liam craig and he is really good, non judgemental and fair.

One thing I would suggest to not to get private assessment done by yourself as there will be chances that SS won't accept it as they like doing things in their own ways, choosing individuals and give them a set of questions they want answers for.

What does police says in your DH case. Are they in favour of your husband moving back home. If so I think you can go back to SS and ask for private assessment and of they oppose it then you can ask for PLO process than you will get lawyers assigned for you and your DH and through them you can take SS to family Court and ask for specialist assessment. Family courts usually grant people with assessments.

As this is what happened in our case. SS got involved and they said they will do a person posing risk assessment on my OH and basis on outcome they will provide us a specialist assessment. PPRA was full of lies about me and my DH and the outcome was they don't want to do a specialist assessment as my DH is very high risk and I need to leave him. Our lawyers then suggested us threaten SS to say take us to family Court otherwise my DH will move back to home. We then went to family Court and it was the best thing we ever did. Judge granted specialist assessment for both me and my DH. It was positive with recommendation of 2 short courses. Ss tried to fight the assessment and through it out of the window but because we were in family Court they failed to do so.
