We had backlash from the media exposure in terms of people driving by shouting and staring and I had dog poo left on my car. One set of neighbours lost the plot and have drawn out a long campaign of harassment against us while acting the victims.

Some just ignore us now and others are absolutely fine and treat us no differently. You have to remember that you have done nothing wrong. Any backlash is usually the result of uninformed people being hyped up by sensationalist media reports and that well known source of facts - social media..

Hi,

Our experience has been good in regards to this. It was his parents address that was in the press and they've had no backlash. I've had nothing other than people distancing themselves but this is his friends rather than people I was close to. He has had one incident of an ex work colleague of mine calling him the p word and refusing to serve him in the shop.
Our daughter was born the week of sentencing so in all honesty I don't know if I would have been as comfortable being in the same area if she had been older.

My children from a previous relationship were open with their friends and their families have provided all of us with support. They never faced any backlash xxx

Our experience has been positive. My son is the offender and moved back home with us on the night of his arrest. It was our address published by the media. We haven't received any backlash. Some people choose to ignore my son but they don't treat me any differently.

We had a huge amount of fallout from the media article.

Campaign of harassment from the neighbours, criminal damage etc that lasted 2 years. Directed not just at him but me also. And also harassment over social media.

OH broke his Shpo and I kicked him out.

Since then, very little. I'm still in the same house but I'm moving ASAP to give my little one a better chance of a normal life where they are not penalised for their fathers crimes.

As it turns out, he's not a very nice man, just took a while for me to get some clarity. I won't go into details as it's utterly traumatic.

If you do move, I would advise doing it prior to sentancing. I struggled to sell my house bevause the address was printed so I will more than likely have to take a reduced price.

Not everyone has the same experience though even if it's in the press.

I developed a very thick skin & stood up for myself & now the neighbours rarely bother me.

If you do stay, I would suggest investing in some discreet CCTV and a ring cam.

Sending you love x

We had no backlash - a few awkward moments, friends & neighbours didn't know how to approach us and we were unsure how to respond. As time progressed we were shown nothing but support especially from our fantastic neighbours......

we were lucky.....

I am still with my OH, the address in court was his new one, no mention of the family home at all.

I was mentioned as I am supporting him. It made both the local and national press. I think people are distancing themselves but I've had nothing more than that so far. (Media coverage was 7 weeks ago)

My OH still lives in family home. We have never received any backlash. Neighbours dont talk to us so i presume they know, but no comments or any criminal damage etc.
