I originally posted this on Upset's Friday post but decided it was hijacking that so here I am!!!

Today is the first day that I don't have to say to myself sadly that 'this time last year we were all so happy' because it's the 1st anniversary of our son coming here after his arrest.

I wouldn't wish that day a year ago on my worst enemy and remembering is a bit triggering BUT I can attest to the fact that we are all in a much better place now despite still having huge hurdles to overcome like charges, court etc where I know things will seem awful again. But we will know that we got through the past 12 months when we had no idea that would be possible and that will spur us on.

I guess what I'm saying is for all you lovely ladies who are at the start of this journey and perhaps feel that your life is over - take heart and hang on in there despite how you may feel today.

And a message from me to this forum and LFF - thank you all so much for helping us survive what we feared was going to be unsurvivable. We are forever grateful xxx

Rainyday

Ukk the Anniversarys are just the worst x

But look at how far you have all come x a small step each day is all we can hope for

Me and my son were talking on our visit today, in May it will be 4 yrs since the knock, and for me the fact he is still here, he has adjusted to his life in prison, he is studying for a degree, it still pains me but no matter how difficult the Anniversarys are I try to look at it as we get through each day, each week, each month, each year, and we get through it because that is what we do, your strength will pick you up, brush you down, and guide you through this journey, hugs sent xx

Having an awful memory helps on this one. I remember the month we found out what was happening (plus it was in Covid days and who can forget that), and my sons court case happened on a family birthday (so a hard one to forget).

Like Upset says you plough through these days and hopefully the significance fades as time passes x
