Risk assessment at work

I've had my risk assessment at work. I thought I have been doing okay, but it's making me more anxious. I know they need to be seen to be doing something and having something in place, but it has been nearly 9 months since the knock. All of a sudden I'm not allowed to take my laptop home which I understand, but 'they suddenly think my OH will be tempted to go on my laptop as his laptop has been confiscated'. I had to have that bit changed as it was his PC that has been taken and he is actually using an old laptop for coding purposes which the police know about as he asked them and they are happy for him to use as long as he stays away from the 'torrants' websites.
I also found out why I was moved out of the reception before Christmas where I worked and I'm now sharing an office office with another colleague. I was told it was to make room and to streamline the assessment service which I deal with, but on my risk assessment it says to help with my concentration they have moved me out of the busy reception area. But I think I would be better off with the distraction of working in a busy office as at the moment it is too quiet which leaves me with my thoughts. Being moved as made me feel lonely and not part of the admin team (only when they want reception covered) as last week my colleague wasn't in for 2 days and no one came to check on me once (even though it says in the risk assessment that to help me I will have regular checks).

Hi Dawn
This doesn't sound at all helpful to you and I am not sure how it reduces the risk to your employer. I would suggest you request a meet with your employer and HR and tell them basically what you have posted here. If your laptop is password protected then there is no way your OH could gain access even if he wanted to. Isolating you in an office at work is not good for your mental health. It smacks to me of a lack of thought and understanding. Are you in a trade union or have an employee rep? They might be able to support you. If not, just meet with your manager and HR and tell them that you are not finding their actions supportive for you, and that the restrictions on home working seem over the top, and can they explain their reasoning.

Hi Dawn, I am also going through some workplace issues at the moment including being moved away from the area I work in and placed in a different role. I self referred to Talking Therapies as I recognised my anxiety was spiralling and they have allocated me with an employment advisor. I can talk to her about my workplace issues and she provides me with advice, support and guidance. I have also just completed a worry management course with Talking Therapies which I found helpful.
Hi bitter bean, yes my laptop is password protected and my OH has never been tempted when I occasionally bring my laptop home. He never even goes on my tablet or my phone. I was allowed to work from home for a few days last June/July when my daughter was off school. There wasn't an issue about thinking my OH will be tempted to access the laptop then, so I don't why it matters now.
Hi ocean, I will have a look at talking therapies. We have perkbox through work where we can access counselling, that is the only help that work has recommended. It's like we are being punished ourselves, isn't it.
