Travelling To EU on Saturday
Notifications OFF
Hi all, I'm new here. I've scoured the internet for any information but I'm still very worried.
On Saturday I will be travelling with my partner to Denmark where we will transit through to Lund Sweden via train. My partner is on the SOR and his crime happened over 10 years ago where he got sentenced to 40 months and served 35 of them.
He saw his PPU a couple weeks ago and has also filled out the Foreign Travel Notification when he went and done his Annual Signing. His PPU has said he is low risk as this was also the first time he had seen them in over a year. Sorry for the rant but I'm just seeking some advice.
When we land is Denmark is my partner going to be refused entry to the country as we are going over to visit family. We are only going for 3 weeks so we haven't had to get a visa and ETIAS isn't out yet. I'm just getting very scared and nervous for my partner as his mental health isn't great at the moment hence why we are going on holiday. He is a big self harmer and I don't think he is a risk anymore he made one mistake when he was 20 now 30 the person he was then is nowhere near the person he is now.
So if anyone can give me some advice on what to expect as we haven't travelled abroad before. I really don't want to get to Denmark and watch my partner get refused as I think that will break both of us.
Thanks for any advice.

There should not be any issues travelling in Europe at the moment.
Thank you for responding. It's just all very stressful, I'm struggling to sleep and so is my partner. I don't want to have wasted all this money.
It just pings to the UK police that you have left the country and when you come back. you will be fine.
Thank you so much for responding, His PPU said something similar and not to use the E-Gates as they won't work for him.
It's just hard to trust PPU sometimes as they always give of strange vibes.

Hi Alsina,
I could've written this post myself. My OH is 2yrs post sentence and has just finished his probation, so we have booked our first overseas holiday. We're going to Gran Canaria at the end of April but I'm extremely anxious as to what may happen.
Obviously we will inform his PPU and report to police station, but I can't help but worry what will happen at the Airport, more the EU side than the UK.
I am looking forward to a sun holiday but worried at the same time. My OH doesn't like talking about his situation as it makes him physically sick and he gets angry with me if I bring up my anxiety so have come here for advice.
Thanks

Hi Fluffy8
Well we fly tomorrow so I will post an update when we get to my families place in Sweden if we do get that far to let you know how it goes.
Everything I have researched suggests EU should be fine aslong as you are going visa-free so if you just going on holiday up to 3 months you should be fine. But again the only way we will be sure is by doing it.

Hi,
We went abroad around 2 months after sentencing. No issues just declare prior to leaving as you have. There were no problems either leaving or coming back. Had to admit i was quite anxious and I know my husband was but all was fine.
Enjoy
