Hi all.
long time no speak. People on here a while will know my story. But I'm not here to talk about my husband this time.

we have recently become aware another family member has been through this and also had the knock. It was sentencing today. I'll get to that.

the charge was 1 image distribution. Proven that it wasn't on his computer and proven he didn't view the image. The image in question was attached to something the family member forwarded on to a friend.

that's all. No other charges. Nothing frounf on devise. A STUPID mistake. A mistake anyone could have made because the image wasn't even viewed and the forwarded message didn't even allude to there being an image.

family member got 7 months suspended for 12 and a 5 year SHPO. (Not sure on details on SHPO). Harsh I feel.

and for what. What good will this actually do. What benefit to the poor abused children and the tax payer is this?! Wouldn't the huge amount of money and resources used on this be better being used catching the vile humans who make these images.

makes my blood boil.

Hi,

that seems very harsh. Reading your post has really concerned me and brought out the conspiracy theorist in me. With the way the rates of arrests and convictions are increasing are we heading to a situation where so many people have the label of being a sex offender that society become desensitised to it?

I honestly believe that there are already the resources to go after the organised rings but it doesn't benefit those in charge of making decisions to do that. Going after the men viewing images gives higher rates of crimes effectively dealt with and keeps the public happy that these men are being outed and punished whilst the reality is that we have some very dangerous people who continue to abuse children amongst us.

Now that I've had my rant, I think it might be worth your family member discussing an appeal with their solicitor. Did they plead guilty? xxx

Yet society is being pushed towards absolutely everything being internet based. This sentence seems ludicrous as does the policing & justice system.
