A couple of days ago my life got flipped upside down and I got a phone call of the police to say they had my brother in Custody for IIOC. When he was realised and bailed I remained calm and asked him to tell me everything and he did....

he told me he wasn't attracted to men and he wasn't arrested to women. He has tried but he just isn't. He said since he turned 13 he was attracted to boys and his body grew up but his mind, brain and attraction never did. This is the biggest shock I have ever had in my life. I always thought my brother is a lot younger then he is. The way he still plays football at the park like a teenager or Xbox in his room for hours. How he had a mental breakdown when he was 14-15 saying he didn't want to leave school and he didn't want to grow up where most of us couldn't wait to leave. He felt so strongly about not wanting to leave school he kept saying he wanted to kill himself.

is this a learning disability or a condition? What is this? How can we get support and help him change his mindset ? He wants it so bad he's asked me to start to process to find help for him because he would love a wife and children one day. He's only 25! He wants a life and he really wants to change? Where do I start what is out there for him! We are not a rich family I couldn't afford £500 a session but just something to start the help process to get my brother back!

thank you.

Contact StopSo. They will put him in touch with a therapist who can help. I can't say how much it will cost, but they are very helpful and very knowledgeable.

As Edel says, contact StopSo - my son has therapy through them and pays £50 per hour's long session and goes fortnightly if that helps to know. The therapists seem to charge whatever they like but £50 seems about average.

And we are all here to help support you through this horrendous time. Keep posting as often as you like xx

Phone the LFF helpline to talk things through. They are great listeners.
