I dont know about mortgage companies, but for car insurance it is churchill or Direct lone. I also think Admiral are also ok. House it is Home protect, there are a couple more. Visit the unlock website they will have more details.

hope this helps.

You can always do a product transfer with the same mortgage company then they don't ask any questions they just change you to another of their mortgages

I echo re the insurance companies mentioned above. We are with Admiral and Home Protect. You could also look at moving mortgage before sentencing

Home protect for home insurance and Churchill for car. We have struggled to remortgage our house we've ended up going with our original provider because they didn't ask for anything everywhere else has refused us

Thank you all this is really helpful. If you just transfer your mortgage to another rate with the same provider do you not need to tell them about the conviction? But you don't have to tell them if they don't ask ? Is that right. Just don't want to do anything wrong. Haven't ever stayed with same provider always swapped at end of term.
Thanks again everyone

Just renewed mortgage with same provider no questions were asked regarding convictions as I worried about this not long ago, unsure if you changed the provider if they would ask though.

Try Adrian Flux for car insurance as we were with Direct Line and they have informed me that they WILL NOT insure anyone with a criminal conviction until the conviction is a year spent. I did ask them outright and although they don't ask it is under "assumptions" in the policy wording. Anyone with Direct Line might want to check as they have changed their policy wording in the last year or two .

I went with Home Protect for house and Admiral for car after reading advice on here too. Re mortgages, would my partners historic convictions have to be considered if my mortgage is only in my name? Hadn't even thought of this being an issue too! It's my house in my name but my partner lives with me now so suppose that might be a question when I have to renew my mortgage?

Hi Widow, I can't see that in my policy booklet or on any documents have had from direct line. Just wondering if you could point me in the direction of where that's written down? I've just had my renewal and can't see anything in there about it either!

Hi all,

Had a breakthrough moment this week regarding car insurance cost with an unspent criminal conviction.

Been with Admiral for two years with ridiculous price increases, found that Policy expert (spoke over the phone)will insure us at half the cost of Admiral. So pleased to be quoted for my careful driving record as it should be and not taking other life issues into consideration.

Really hope this helps someone

Hi. Just checking how you got on with the new mortgage deal in the end? My deal ends this year so I'm now worrying about this too. My mortgage is in just my own name. But my partner now lives with me. Wonder if I stick with the current lender do I have to tell them my household has changed and they might then ask questions about him? I ended up going with privilege for car insurance, home protect for house insurance. I'm also feeling shaken up at the moment as there was a local news story in our local online paper last week about a business that had closed down, and all the online trolls came out accusing the owner of all sorts, seems he had been charged of offences over 10 years ago and had made a life for himself since then. But people were still quick to judge, throw stones, make accusations about him now. All the hate and judgement just always brings up my fears of anyone we know ever finding out my partners history and causing us trouble now. It gets me so anxious and scared that our lives could be turned upside down at any moment
