Hi all,

My partner was arrested a week ago today for sexual communication with a child, although this turned out to be a police decoy and thank god it wasn't a child!

I feel like my life is somewhat over, I was due to get married in August. His bail conditions is he's allowed supervised visits with my son (he's not my sons father) but I've said I've had full closure on things he will not be seeing him. So currently while my son is at my dads and in between my work pattern I will be seeing him once a week. The police have told his parents that once the social have spoken to myself, my son and my partner he may be allowed back as he is low risk.

Has anyone had the police give their person another phone? He's had 3 devices confiscated and the day after they brought him another phone up. Also the police have said had he not have the job he has it would be a case of a slap on the wrist...has anyone's case ever been thrown out?

I also want to say I'm so glad a forum like this exists, I've been feeling so ashamed and disgusted for still loving and and caring for this man. I'm so glad I'm not the only one going through this.

Hi

I saw your post an wanted to comment. First of all, you might want to post this under the general discussion as there is more traffic there.

The advice police have given us very strange. These kind of offences very rarely get a slap on the wrist regardless of profession. Especially communication with a decoy is taken very seriously as police decoys know exactly what evidence is needed for conviction. It's also important to know that whilst police gather evidence, they do not decide the charge or the sentence so not sure why they have said this to you.

In regards to the phone, I have never heard of the police giving the suspect a new phone. Maybe someone else has had this happen but I would be very wary of using it. Whilst we were told my OH could get a new phone, there was no way the police would've given him one.

In general I would be wary of having conversations with the police. Anything can and will be used against your partner. The best is to have communication via a solicitor if you have one.

My son was advised by his solicitor to get a 'dumb' phone. Only text & calls on it. Frustrating to not have internet access, but for the right reasons!
So sorry that you have had to join us but pleased you have found us.????

I've said from the start it all seems very strange and the police are being very open with saying this.

In regards to the phone, when he was bailed and was advised to get one and my partner said he didn't want one because he didn't want them to think he was doing anything dodgy. Yet the next day the police rang me and told me they were bringing one up for him so they did with a SIM card.

I don't know if they're looking for him to come forward and admit something because he was advised to give no comment to everything so he did.
