Hi all,

My partner was arrested a week ago today for sexual communication with a child, although this turned out to be a police decoy and thank god it wasn't a child!

I feel like my life is somewhat over, I was due to get married in August. His bail conditions is he's allowed supervised visits with my son (he's not my sons father) but I've said I've had full closure on things he will not be seeing him. So currently while my son is at my dads and in between my work pattern I will be seeing him once a week. The police have told his parents that once the social have spoken to myself, my son and my partner he may be allowed back as he is low risk.

Has anyone had the police give their person another phone? He's had 3 devices confiscated and the day after they brought him another phone up. Also the police have said had he not have the job he has it would be a case of a slap on the wrist...has anyone's case ever been thrown out?

I also want to say I'm so glad a forum like this exists, I've been feeling so ashamed and disgusted for still loving and and caring for this man. I'm so glad I'm not the only one going through this.

In answer to some of your questions....

police can and do give phones to offenders in the basis that they need to be able to contact them.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if your partner was in a position of trust, they are unlikely to have their case thrown out as this is an aggravating factor in cases of this kind (even if the offending had nothing to do with their work).

in sorry that you find yourself here, but well done on reaching out. The first weeks are tough and there is some excellent advice in "surviving the early days" on the "understanding why" page.

you can also listen to "the world according to the knock" podcast which takes you through each stage of the process

Good luck over the next few weeks and sending you all the love and support.

xx

Hello worried 4 Future,

My OH is in a similar position also told very low case we were told to expect an answer in 4-5 weeks we are now on week 14. The delays were Christmas and new year and getting a reply back from the investigating officer. Feel free to message me if you like but just be prepared for a wait xx
