My mind is my worst enemy. I really do drive myself crazy constantly thinking what's coming next, when will we get an update, why does it seem to be dragging on for so long, when will it end and so on. We are only 6 months in but there is never a time when it isn't on my mind.

Short answer is yes to both. Our minds are in trauma recovery and it's hard to process things in that state. It does get better with time though.

It is hard work, professionals have likened the PTSD from this to those who have been in a war zone. Be kind in your approach to yourself and your healing. You will experience things that bring you back to the early days in terms of trauma but I promise that with help those days become fewer and the regularity of life will come back xxx

Morning lovely ladies - In my experiences yes, your mind goes on over-drive plus you 'over' think everything on this journey. In your panic you continue to analise why it happened/ obsessively worry about the future. My mental state was such in tatters as we were in the middle of the Covid lockdown too :-(

Personally I find it does ease with time but accept triggers arise. Distraction has helped me controlling my overthinking. But even so thoughts of my son are always there and have never gone away. I do 'try' to focus on anything 'positive' that comes along.

Yes our mind flies off in all directions. The 'normal' parameters are shaken. We are in this traumatic situation but the world carries on around us. We have to hide & lie through no fault of our own.
However we do have the help & support of these wonderful people & LFF, which is highly respected by the Government agencies/Criminal Justice System.

I also found it useful to list the practical v. hypothetical problems/issues. So much appears to be out of our control but we can make a difference in more manageable ways.

Now Spring is here, try to get out each day & just walk with favourite music/podcast.

Stay strong & seek support where you can.
