I'm just wondering if anybody could give me some insight on how long a communication investigation takes? (Well how long it took for your person)

I'm going out of my mind (as I'm sure you all were/are) the officer told me it'll be a matter of weeks but reading on here it seems as though that's not the case!

im also interested in what your persons charges and sentences were if you wouldn't mind sharing

We got the knock in Jan 23 for a communication about a child. Not a decoy. It was an email. Devices Seized and checked no evidence connecting that email to any of my persons devices, no images but some cached links that haven't been opened.

2nd interview was in October 23, we are now in March 24 and the officer has still she is still investigating but it is low priority and low risk so we could be waiting another year for her to get round to looking at it.

still bailed and cannot be at home. But there is no evidence everyone including our solicitor has said ir should have been closed last year but no.

the police basically can't be bothered because they know they aren't going to be able to charge. That's how it feels. And they can take as long as they like apparently.

it's a long process and it hurts every single day

Doesn't really answer the question but gives an indication on time

My person was arrested July 2020, remanded in custody until sentencing Feb 2021. His charges were attempted sexual communication with a minor, attempt to incite a minor to engage in sexual activity and another that the wording of escapes me about causing a minor to view sexually explicit material. He was given a 3 year community order, 5 years sor and SHPO internet based only, community service, a small fine and horizon course as part of his sentence xx

My persons case took 22 months from arrest to sentencing. Similar charges to Distressed and Pregnant but my person received 2 years suspended sentence, 10 year SHPO and 10 year SOR plus 300 community payback hours.

Hi, I wish I could give you the answers you're looking for, but it's almost impossible. Ours was eight months from arrest to sentencing. Based on this thread alone, the variation in outcomes is astonishing. My person's offences were appalling, but arguably significantly 'less' than others have described here. First offence (of any kind) over a short timeframe. And yes, I have full discolsure and attended court etc, so I know the full extent. I fully agree he deserved a punishment proportionate to his offending. He was sentenced to three years in prison. His imprisonment has inflicted the most appalling vicarious sentence on me and our children (emotional, practical, social, financial etc etc), which was never taken into consideration by the judge. Wishing you strength and serenity.
