Hi,

it's the first Bail date coming up beginning of April. Solicitor thinks this will be extended. Did most people get notified of an extension through a call? My (ex) partner has to travel 2.5 hrs to the county where the offence happened. To be honest he deserves the inconvenience at the very least but wondered at what point he may be told not to travel up and given another date?

as it approaches I'm getting more anxious. If he is charged I'm not sure what happens next with his job.. if he looses it straight away we will loose our home within months as cannot survive without his salary. Social Care made clear in thier report the adverse impact on my children.
Paying for 2 homes at the moment is hard enough.

feeling really down tonight. Only 4 months in and due to the complexity of his more unusual case I think this is going to go on months and months, if not years.

Hi there

Sorry you're feeling down. I think with all aspects of this situation it varies from place to place. My person has had two bail extensions. We're six months in. He's attended the police station both times. The second time he was re interviewed. He wasn't told this was happening until he got there. There was a duty solicitor at the station already. He was bailed for another three months after the interview. Take care x

Hi,

Sorry that your in this horrible journey.

We were told by the police that the extension would happen automatically. When it came to it, no one told us anything, so he attended the police station because we didn't want him arrested for not attending, also over 2 hours away. When he got he was told he didn't need to attend.

I have found the police not very informative.

Take care

Hi Feelinghopeless. Same scenario here re travelling to the place of arrest. and also the fears of a job loss although as it's our son who's the offender it doesn't affect us in nearly as serious a way as for you.

Our experience echoes others - I got really anxious just before the first bail date and I think my son got a call from the OIC saying not to bother coming. Must admit i worried in case it was a nasty trick and he'd then be arrested (paranoia was rampant in those days although not without reason!) but all was well and the paperwork arrived in the post a few days later. Actually it was sent to his old address so his ex opened it which was a whole other problem for him but that's another story.

Since then he's had 2 more extensions delivered in the same way and is now RUI (aka lost and forgotten about until his name comes to the top of the list in the future).

I'm sorry you find yourself here and I totally understand your feelings and worries. As we are further down the road now it really does settle down a bit but in some ways that's tricky too because there is always the black cloud of the future hanging over our heads and the temptation to spiral back into 'what if' territory. I'm really learning the importace of living in the moment after over 70 years of being a slave to worrying about things!

Hi there,

My husband got in touch with the OIC to check if he needed to attend, as he would have had to travel 3+ hours to get there. They requested an extension as there were no updates on the investigation thus far.

Hope this helps.
