Choice between job and OH?
Notifications OFF
Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone on here has ever had to chose between their job and their OH and how they made that decision.
To do my job I have to have a certain level of security clearance. This means I have to declare any associations which may be a risk to the organisation, including contact with criminals. I have done this declaring that my OH has been arrested and he will be charged with downloading IIOC, just do not know what level. This has triggered a review of my clearance. I have been advised that this happened before for someone with the same role as me. Her OH had drug charges and she had to chose.
I am preparing to be told that my clearance will be removed if I stay with him which would mean me losing my job. But I don't know how I will make such a hard choice
And thoughts and help most welcome.

Do you have an alternative form of work or department you can go to if you choose OH?
But how would they check that you're not with your husband/partner anymore?
Doesn't make sense to me. They have no legal power to go in your home and check.

M1439, there may be a possibility as there are jobs that don't need the level of clearance that I have, but still need clearance.
Hpl111, in this day and age I don't know how I could it. Could bump into a colleague out together, or a picture on social media, or I accidentally say something. He can't just hide in the house.

I'd chose the career/ job 100%
This is not your fault. I decided I needed a job more.

Hi
I'm in a similar situation to you. Perhaps not as far along. For the sake of privacy, I will send you a private message x

I chose to end my career and took part time work instead. Not for the same reasons as you but because I simply could not be there for my person, supervise his contact with the children, manage my own mental health crises and still give 100% to my job. I don't regret my decision but realise that big decisions like this are really tough when you can't see what life will look like at the end of the journey.
My hopes are that you get the security clearance you need so that your job isn't affected and that you can then take your time making the right decision for you.
