Did anyone find themselves in a situation where devices were examined in their property during the initial 'knock'?

What is it they are doing with them that can't be done here? Ours got hooked up to a small machine - I've been Googling and these machines are able to detect deleted images etc, so I wonder what the need for the devices to go away is. Did the devices that were meant to have something on them still have it there? This 1 image they are looking for was nowhere to be found on his phone.

I was doing really well today and now I'm in a funk :(

My phone was manually checked during the house search - they checked photos, browsing history, messages and possibly what apps were installed from what I could tell. Maybe other stuff too, I was still in shock. No devices hooked up that I remember.

Hilltop, were the devices that were checked at your home returned to you? That's really positive if so.

Hi

Yes all devices that were checked here were given straight back to us. The only things they took were 2 tablets that are so old I couldn't get them to turn on or remember the passwords, and his phone which was screened through some machine and was clear, but they wanted to look at again by forensics. So I'm hoping this means they found nothing that had been deleted, and that they want to double double check there's nothing loitering somewhere. He's not clever enough tech wise to have done anything that could have 'tricked' the 1st machine, so it's a small glimmer of hope for me.... I think. X

Hi

my sons phone, PlayStation, tablet and laptop were all checked with a s,all machine in the house. Tablet, laptop and PlayStation were clear but he had three pictures on his phone of the 15 year old he had chatted to on his phone so they took that away. We were told that any device that has images on it will never be handed back to you. They said whether it’s one image or 100 the device won’t be given back to you x

As with Nicenana, my husbands phone was destroyed. It had the images on it so he would never get it back.

At this point I'd let them destroy everything if it meant we could go back to normal lol.

I'm asking because they found nothing on his phone using the machine, so I was wondering if it meant I could put some hope towards that if it makes sense.

Thats what I thought, but then I was told that the machine used on the day should have picked up deleted files. I've just looked at the paperwork we were left with and they were in my home for 4 hours, so they must have done something!

I think I am going to arrange for us to go speak to a specialist solicitor in this area because all these questions are driving me potty and my brain seems to be giving me more questions than I can get answers to!

I'd like my old life back now please!!

I’ve been thinking about this- The thing is that gets me is that they expect the general bloke who’s looking at porn to to work out if a person is under 18 but the police need experts in order to do this not just any officer can tell the difference for the images to be examined obviously I’m talking about the grey area ones where partners perhaps didn’t realise they were looking at under age - hope this makes sense.

Totally agree Summer.

There is a big difference between intentionally looking for it and thinking that you're just watching legal stuff. X
