According to the information here what they are doing is illegal. This is irrelevant of holding a SIA licence. The first paragraph states that what they are doing is illegal. Why is nothing being done? What can we do to challenge this?

In full agreement with you and right behind you but nothing will be done, vigilantes build up followings and yet they're all disgusting, attention seeking individuals who wreck lives, contrary to them acting for the general public like they say they do. I'd even class vigilantes as worse people than the people they 'catch".
Live streaming videos to warn people when all they're doing is wrecking lives and futures. Something does need to be done about vigilantes and their pumped up egos!

The police dont agree with Vigilantes but we know the police lie!
My journey on here with my son was through the knock on my door
I still to this day 4 years later haven't forgotten the trauma it caused so I can only just comprehend the impact caused by these
The ripple effect
Vigilantes, decoys , media, it really is a sad world we live in

The only way to hold the SIA licence holders accountable would be anyone who is on the other end of a vigilante group "sting" to report them to the SIA but this may be difficult because most of them don't tend to use their real names at the event. Also, with the way they behave it would likely make people fear reporting them in case they retaliated.
I honestly don't understand how these groups have been allowed to operate as long as they have, every bit of legislation I have read around these situations would suggest that it's not acceptable for them to do what they do. I think it's going to take someone taking a case to the Supreme Court to get a precedent set against the use of vigilante cases and evidence. There was one in Scotland but the offender took it there on the basis that his Human Rights had been violated (privacy) but it doesn't surprise me his case failed because I'll be honest, I don't think it should have won. Maybe another case under different circumstances will bring about the change.

It would be great to get someone with knowledge of law and the ability to help challenge this. 'Innocent before proven guilty' still applies to our people (although the police often don't act like that) and the live streamed vigilante attacks 100% go against this. As police work with those groups, it feels like they are giving their blessing for the live streaming.
Also, the risk it puts families in is massive. It can be a question of life and death for their Facebook life. We all have a right to quiet enjoyment of our homes, yet the vigilantes take it away.
I don't know how to bring change to this. I don't think any of us would feel comfortable going public with our names and faces - I wouldn't. I don't know if there is a legal professional that would be the front? Whose attention should we even bring this to? High court? Hague?

At the same time, these vigilantes are having sexual conversations online pretending to be kids, I am confident they will also come across with illegal materials. They do this day in day out. Yet they go scot free. Though who's the p-word now, what's not to say they're not doing it for their enjoyment?
