I was wondering what you have told people those of you whose partner has had to leave the home.

We live in a small village and people have already asked where is my husband as they haven’t seen him or his car! I have said he is working away but that is only going to work for so long. Plus there are others such as parents of my children’s friends etc. It is like he has fell off the face of the earth and obviously the longer it all goes on the harder it is.

What have you all said to other people?

Thanks

I just say that we've separated and I don't feel comfortable talking about it yet x

It's up to you what you tell them, we are lucky to be in a position that we can operate on a need to know basis, but I would think that people may just stop asking at some stage.... Just put a sign up saying "It's none of your business!"

Cornish tea, that is the hardest part about small towns and villages. It's hard to tell them it's none of their business. It is just that, none of their business. All you need to say is you dont want to talk about it. I was told I was being bitchy when I said that but people were just being nosey rather than concerned x

Hi Cornish Tea.

I too live in a small village but I've just told people we have separated. There's no need for anything more until the investigation is over. I'll cross that bridge when we come to it!

Are you from Cornwall (I'm assuming from your name you are!) I'm from Cornwall too. If you want to pm me via Mumsnet then feel free. I'm KLK79 X
