Can/Should I read that chat?

Hello ladies,
hope you are doing great and having a wonderful day! I would like to ask for your honest opinion about a matter that has been on my mind for weeks.
My partner is being investigated for a chat with someone who said is 13 yrs old. He says he does not remember this because he texted in some sort of website with many women (adults) but these were all very short, like max. 30 minutes, and sporadically without any follow up. He described it as a sort of reward for himself and a moment of feeling powerful and attractive again as he is dislikes himself and his life (but probably therapy will be the only way for him to understand what happened).
Now my question for those in a similar situation is:
-have you actually asked for full disclosure of the legal process, including being able to read those chats? (Is it even possible? - The police read all the chat in the 1 interview and a transcript was given to the laywer so i guess they should have that?)
-is it normal to feel the need to read that and understand what happened?
-do you think that will help in any way to understand and take decisions about my future or would just hurt me even more?
I am currently supporting him and trying to be close to him but not sure about the future, and probably not able to make a decision now. But I feel sometimes reading those will help me understand who I have next to me, but I'm not sure if that is the correct thing to do. Please, if you have any experience, could you share it with me? Thanks a lot.

Hi Galaxy123, my person is a similar situation to yourself he used Snapchat to flirt with other women this is where he met the police decoy who was stating they were a 13yr old girl.
I was able to get a good account of what had happened via the officer in charge and his duty solicitor.
my person gave the police officer in charge permission to tell me a whole account of what happened over a phone call. It was not word for word as per the transcript as she said the investigation was ongoing so I would not be able to see it. I found this very helpful as I did not feel I could trust a word my person was telling me even tho the account he gave me was identical to the account I recieved from the officer in charge.
However I did read the detailed account from my persons duty solicitor of the charges that were put against him and the timeline that this had covered. I found this all very helpful it also enabled me to gain some trust back with my person as he had told me everything from the start and the police officer and solicitor had clarified this. Please feel free to message me anytime if you have any questions.
