Hi all, I am looking for advice regarding a new phone.

My Son's device is still awaiting examination and wondered if he upgraded to a new phone with the same number would this effect the phone that has been seized. We cannot get a new contract as it will end the contract on the seized device and worry content will be lost.

I have had no joy with police answering the query.

Thanks in advance x

Our legal advice was to purchase a 'dumb' phone with no internet access at all. Only used for calls & texts.

This is now causing a problem for my son as storage is limited & he is not allowed to delete anything. Police have to do so.

Now he has his SHPO he plans to get a laptop, but deliver it unopened to the police station for them to install protective software.

I hope this is of use.

Than you EBP.

He's had a phone with no internet access for a year now but after reading posts here I worry it could go on for another year. He has no conditions currently RUI.

I guess I'm asking this question more for my benefit. I pay his phone contract (new phone 1 month before it was seized) and I wondered could I upgrade to make use out of the contract.

My Son has no contact with his siblings and lives in rented accommodation at uni. We have safeguarded our younger children. Although police said one year ago he could continue to work around children (part time job), attend uni etc. His laptop, computer and tablet have since been returned but phone sent off for in depth examination.

It's so frustrating, like so many others share. The process is long and tough for families.

I find it confusing he has no restrictions however RUI for a serious offence.

Apologies for the lengthy reply. And thank you for your response.
