Due to the fact that my OH and I work together and security clearance is needed to work where we do, I have a tough choice to make.

I have a higher clearance level than my OH due to being higher up the ladder than he is. When he was arrested, it triggered a review of this. I have been advised that the decision will most likely be that my higher level clearance will be removed, leaving me with basic clearance. This would mean I would no longer be able to do my role. I would move to the redeployment pool and if a suitable lesser job came up within 3 months, I would be moved to it. If not, I would have to leave. If I did get another role, I would not be able to progress back to my current role, as I would never be able to have higher level clearance.

The other decision would be to split from my OH.

I really love my job and I only imagined that I would leave it due to promotion or other progression.

I hate being forced into this because of what my OH has done and I do not know what to chose. Especially as he will lose his job, so I can't be unemployed too.

Oh gosh, I really feel for you having to make such a difficult decision as either way you're going to lose something you love. I hope you've been given plenty of time to think things through as the outcome of both options will be life changing for you.

I'm sure you've spent many many hours trying to come up with a third option so unfortunately I don't have an answer for you, would it be the same situation if your OH didn't work at the same place that you do?

Hi Ocean. Unfortunately, even if we didn't work together, I would have had to declare an association with a criminal. It just makes it more uncomfortable that we work together, especially when it all comes out.
