My oh has received his charges by email today. Obviously it's been a big shock. We expected them soon but to actually see them is a shock.

He has 3 making image charges but no mention of numbers and 2 charges of an adult attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child.

This is what we expected but was afraid of other things such as inciting etc as they carry longer sentences.

What are people's thoughts on the charges and what potential sentences can they carry. I looked up sexual communication and it seems to be a 2 year max.

I'm so worried right now that the sexual communication charge could also include other things such as inciting a child to take part in sexual activities etc.

Hi,

usually the charges will include everything when received. If the charge is communication then that is what he is being charged with rather than inciting etc.

My person had inciting, communication and a third charge that I can't remember the wording of. He was sentenced to a 3 year community order, 5 year sor and 5 year SHPO. There are lots of variations as the guidelines are just guidelines and there doesn't seem to be much consistency in these cases xxx

Hi

My person had 1 charge of incitement, 1 charge of communication and 1 more charge related to communication which like Distressed and Pregnant I can't remember the wording of. He received a 2 year suspended sentence, 300 community hours, Horizon course, a fine, 10 years SHPO and 10 years SOR.
The judge took into consideration the fact that he had completed a LFF course, had been in therapy for 18 months and had pleaded guilty as soon as he was arrested.

Sentence's seem to vary so much. My person is in therapy and has done the safer lives course. Also admitted everything at arrest.

Has the images charges as well but doesn't have incitement which must help.

I was hoping for a suspended sentence for them but now I'm not so sure.

Are they usually sent in email? The OIC has asked my person for a face to face next week to give them updates from CPS

I'm not sure. My person got a call from the oic who then sent an email with the charges.
