Partner has committed suicide

I'm really struggling.
4 days after my partners arrest, he committed suicide. I watched him, talked to him, cried with him for 4 days, 24/7. We were both exhausted. He didn't want to be here anymore. I tried and tried to save him but he couldn't live with what he had done.
I now have family intergregitng me, wanting to know why and that something must have happened. I'm trying to protect him and their memories but it's becoming really hard and making me ill.
I am trying to come to terms with it all myself. My life has been turned upside down in less than a week and I've lost my best friend and rock. I have family members trying to get involved and want to help arrange things. These family members mainly his dad trying to step in. This is the dad who watched him go into care when he was younger

I had a family member commit suicide last year (for another reason) and the family knowing the truth will not help them with the why? Unexpected death is just so hard for everyone to process.
They will just ask more questions starting with "why". Why did he look at the images? why did it get to this point? Closure just comes with time, not more information...... though on the side it may come up in the coronors report if there is one.

Sadly, there are rarely answers to 'why' in suicide. If you are not able or ready to disclose, please don't. You are a victim and you are not responsible for explaining. Your loss is huge, the lead up to his heartbreaking decision, in my opinion, is private. You need protection.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I think you have to now only consider the living and how they come to terms with what has happened.
The worst thing for people affected by suicide is not knowing why. I think telling them is really important even though this will be difficult for you.

I'm so sorry he took his life. You don't owe his family anything. They will find out at the inquest. You could just leave it and let it take its course. X
