Afternoon lovlies x
Honestly I have no idea where this week has gone but Friday is here already,
I really do hope you are all keeping as well as can be, another mixed week of posts , for those of you who are struggling please reach out as we are here for you x so dont ever feel like you are alone x
Work for me has been good and its payday today and the sun has shown its beautiful self today,
Me and my daughter have a visit with HC tomorrow, he is definitely looking forward to his mound of food as this week the food hasn't been great, we had an hour long phonecall last night he was telling me about his canteen order (for those not aware of the prison system they can order from a canteen list for every day bits he depends on this as he has an eating disorder so most of the food the prison do he cannot eat) they order on a Sunday and its delivered on a Thursday, up until 3 weeks ago it was outsourced and he never had any issues with the fresh fruit which he depends on, it is now sorted by guys from a mains prison (cost saving I guess) his fruit delivery over the last 3 weeks has been awful , bananas squashed inside the skins, unbelievable, satsumas the same, apples covered in bruises, not just his food but a lot of the guys on his wing has had the same, they have put in numerous complaints, yes they get refunded as it is just not edible, but that's not the point they need fresh fruit , the reason behind it is because main prisoners know this is going to an SO prison! Crisp packets have been opened, the list goes on and on, but yet all they get told is we will let the prison where its sorted know!
It's just another frustrating part to this journey
But beside that he is doing so well, so all I can do is listen to him airing his frustrations :-)
Sending love as always xx

Hello friday check in,
How awful for your son upset to have his food treated that way. The prison should be doing more to protect them.
I have just come back from a week away and though coming back ill, i have had a great time. It was nice to see my OH look excited when i got home. It is the most i have seen him express emotion since this began. Though he now has gone all quiet again. But just for one moment he seemed his old self and it was nice to see even in these circumstances. I did feel a little jealous of all the couples i saw while away. The love in theri eyes for each other. I used to have that. Now i am not so sure what i have got. But it was a rest and a break that i needed. Seeing friends tomorrow, walking and seeing another in the evening having a few drinks, so that will be good. Bedroom is everywhere as it being decorated but it is progressing. Its just horrendous. Other than that a good week. Back to work Monday.
Hope everyone has a good weekend, and enjoy some of this good weather. Hugs to you all. X

I’m sorry to hear your son had to deal with that and I imagine it doesn’t help with worrying how he’s doing there. I’m glad you’ve had a good week and I think that the nice weather helps to lift spirits a bit more.
Have had quite a good compared to how it’s been so far. We are still waiting to hear back about devices being checked so it’s always in the back of my mind but OH and his family, and myself are trying to get on with things until then. We were supposed to hear back end of April so was quite upsetting when there was no update.
Webb89- I’m going away soon without my OH as well and am struggling with guilt of leaving him and worrying how he will be on his own. Did you have any trouble with this? There is also the guilt of not telling my side of the family as well and am anxious about pretending everything is fine whilst I spend time away with them.

So pleased you had a lovely well deserved break, to know your OH missed you I can honestly picture his reaction when you got home and gave a glimmer of life before this journey, he has shut down again because he has his safety net home, men struggle immensely dont they ?x as for the couple thing I think we all picture our lives to be like that and then we find ourselves here, xx

Ocean13...no i did not worry about my OH. Though they dont speak much to him, my adult children live at home so I would have known if anything was wrong. He normally does the cooking so knew he would be ok on that score. It must be hard if your family are unaware of what is happening. It is only my mother in law who does not know as she is old and frail. I do not have much family but they all know so it is not hard for me to explain. I also told a lot of people, at the beginning, before i knew it was true. But in the long run this has helped me as everyone knows.
Upset...i do realise that everyone has their problems, and beneath the exterior of wedded bliss there could be problems, and the fact people were on holiday, well people tend to make an effort. I have been on holiday without my OH before, years ago, but i did not notice the 'couples' then. Yes it was nice to see the old person peeking through.

Well that's another week that's flown by. We're in the process of having our conservatory replaced so are living in a bit of a mess this week. I opted to have a fixed roof rather than a glass one as it's meant to keep the heat in in the winter and the heat out in the summer but it's made the house much darker so I'm now not sure I've made the right choice.
Despite living in a bit of chaos both at home and at work I feel the old me is gradually returning. At work on Monday I was asked if I could work in a different area to help out a person that was struggling. I only work 3 days a week, so day 1 was spent trying to learn what needed to be done, day 2 was spent putting into practice what I learned, day 3 said person phoned in sick and has now been signed off for a month with stress so I'm now left doing as much as I can of her job for her. 6 months ago that would have caused me so much anxiety but instead I've actually enjoyed the challenge.
Upset, I hope you have a great visit tomorrow with HC and I look forward to hearing about it.
To all of you that are struggling at the moment, I just want to reassure you that you won't always feel like this, life will get easier but if you're anything like me, you might need some help to get you there.

I too look forward to our checking in - great idea Upset x
ive found it sad reading posts from ladies coping young children this week - and although they probably don't feel it, aren't they SO brave and courageous? I cannot comprehend how hard a life with children must be on this journey.... a massive well done to those ladies.
Upset - I understand where your son is coming from on prison food. Food cooked on the premises seems to be of better quality but where my son is it comes from 'outside'. App the local hospital has to endure the same food source.
Its a bit sloppy and tasteless. He tops it up with noodles & snacks he buys on his canteen too. I often dream about cooking him a huge roast & full trimmings.........
Kept myself busy this week and done more things by myself, things ' I ' enjoy - which has helped me immensely, so that's good. Got a jungle of a garden to sort out, so that's a future thing to keep me occupied.
So have a good weekend ladies - grab some 'you' time, have a good visit Upset and feed that boy!!!!!
thanks for listening, how I love you lot xxxxxxxx

Hi everyone,
Another week has flown by. I'm feeling quite overwhelmed recently. The rising costs of everything, having to look for a job that fits around a toddler and dealing with a toddler on my own are all contributing to my mental exhaustion.
I feel like a bit of a fraud when I feel low as I'm trying to work towards a career helping people recover from trauma. I suppose recognising these lows gives me more of an insight around what support people may need.
As always, love and strength to you all xxx

Hi everyone,
Upset I look forward to hearing the list of food that your HC consumes and hopefully the quality will improve soon.
Webb I'm so pleased that you had a good time away its important to have some space and good that your OH was pleased to see you- that's a positive step forward.
Ocean thank you for your words of encouragement- when all this nightmare began I really couldn't envisage a time when I would feel anything but anxious and low but I'm gradually starting to feel better and although there are still days when I feel low I am better able to deal with them.
Been a sad week as I have just heard that a good friend has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and has only weeks to live- so sad as she is such a lovely vibrant person.
As always love and support to all here and especially to those who have young children who have posted please take care and remember we are always here for you xxx

Hi lovely ladies x
We had a great visit as always x
His hair is so long now ,he usually has it tied up but today he had it down at first , he looked well, he is doing well considering he came of his meds, he was telling us that he could notice the difference from not taking the antidepressants as he finds his patience level a bit more heightened but he is occupying himself more with his studying, I would never have imagined him been so open and honest about his feelings, so I was really proud of how he was talking, my daughter always brings the laughter out of him , she has just the most beautiful soul x
His consumption today was
They had no crumpets (awful)
He had 5 portions of toast over the course of 2 hours (2 slices per portion)
A chocolate coated donut ( not Krispy kreme)
Chocolate covered rice cakes ( he shared with his sister)
Ham and sliced egg roll
Bag of crisps
3 bourbon biscuits
A bag of peanut m&ms
Curley wurley
2 x bananas
2 x blackcurrant kiora drinks
A pot of chocolate icecream
I had 3 x tea + 2 slices of toast haha xx

Hi - also a mum here and not one to post very often. However, I always read Friday Checkin. This post about your visit to see your son brings me joy in the fact that you can literally feel how you feel towards your boy and your thoughtful daughter. The sun is shining here and I'm looking forward to spending this Saturday evening with my boy - he is an avid Dr Who fan, and we've chosen a Bond movie to follow - just us two - chocolates and tins of cocktails - might not seem much but the world to me currently. Sending love and strength to all that find themselves here xx

Distressed and Pregnant - The cost of living crisis is absolutely terrible. Nursery hiked up the costs quite significantly in April. :(((
We're enjoying the sunny day in our garden.
We started packing, because next weekend we'll go abroad to visit my family
My husband will return to the UK after 2 weeks because of work. As I'm on maternity leave at the moment, I'll be staying until the beginning of August.
I hope I'll be able to relax and switch off a bit 700 miles away from the brewing shitstorm that's been 2 years in the making.

Wow that has come around so quickly x
Once you have unpacked everything when you get there you have to promise us you will breathe, this time is for you to be pampered, if you at all feel overwhelmed then remember how far you have come, how incredibly strong you are, but more importantly how amazing you are , try not to focus on anything else but you (of course its easier said than done) xx

I love reading about your visits to see your son. The list you put of what he's enjoyed eating with you always makes me smile. Do you have to take cash to pay for the food? also are you allowed to take anything in for him when you visit? I have so many questions about the practicalities of visiting but haven't had the heart to ask yet (but I'm going to need to prepare myself for the future)
I'm currently sat in my garden listening to the birds singing and it's so peaceful but overshadowed by this awful limbo we are living in waiting for cps to come back with charges.
Sending hugs to all xx

Hi Hugo x
He does suprise me on how much he can consume but it's his chance to have some fresh bread or crumpets when they have them
Where he is you take cash it was only change permitted but thankfully now they allow £10 & £5 notes so not having to rush around to get change,
We are not permitted to bring anything in with us unfortunately but he can order clothes, dvd and CDs from an approved supplier so financially it cost me a fair bit to support him, his wages is pittence so I dont know how others that dont have support manage
You can bring books in but can take a week or so before they get then due to been searched etc
It's just another part of been in prison but we have got used to the new way of coping and he is doing well so I cant ask for anymore x
Hopefully you wont have to deal with a custodial x
How are you?x
