We had the knock November last year.
they took my husbands phone, an old laptop and an old camera.

We are apparently waiting for a forensics report, and the police have said we could have the laptop and the camera back.

does this mean they found something on the phone? What have been other people's experiences.

The accusation was that he distributed a cat c image on a social media platform which he denies.

We're still waiting on forensics, but I understand phones take longer than other devices. Also if they only return devices if they've found nothing on them (anything with IIOC would be destroyed).

Our solicitors were told that the report writing could take 150 days even though the forensics had been done as there's such a back log.

I just wondered why they had given the laptop and camera back and not the phone, unless there was something on the phone. Which is now making me think that there could be.

Do people who are charged ever get to see the forensics report? My person never shared anything like that with me. I'd have wanted to see it.

Hi Melody,

not usually unless they've hired their own specialist to do an independent report xxx

They could still have the mobile as they are still looking into it, or they could have found an image etc. They could need it until they have finalised the forensic report and they may/may not have found anything on it. Is it possible for you to contact them for a clear explanation?

Oic told me I would only get back the technology that was 'clean' as anything else would be destroyed.

Isn't it frustrating when explanations are clear as mud!

Melody

Your person's solicitor should get the forensics report from the police and will share it with your person. If your person gives full disclosure you can get to see it too.

My OH was emailed a copy of the police forensics report by his solicitor so he could comment on it, and he showed it to me.
