hi

I’m wondering if anyone has had a clear enhanced dbs check even whilst still living with the ‘offender’. I need one for a school setting and my son lives at my address. I’m hoping the scrapping of disqualification by association means it would no longer be allowed to go on my dbs check?

I’d love to hear others experiences. My most recent one for a home based child care (not my home) had my sons conviction on there as they deemed it to be relevant.

I’m so stressed about all of this.

Hi mama bear

I was under the impression that they couldn't put it on your DBS now.

I had an enhanced one done, we had the same address even though he'd moved out

I would the police be able to advise you?

I work in education and we got the knock 7 months ago. Nothing further has happened as my husband is still under investigation. I had to get an enhanced dbs this term and today I got the form back stating that nothing had been recorded against me. I still live at the same address as my husband.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the replies.

I can’t seem to get a straight answer out of the police. They have said that even though schools have the disqualification by association scrapped it might still go on there as I ‘might’ use my dbs in another part of the child workforce and my son could gain access to vulnerable parties that way. They are assuming I will lose all moral judgment, professionalism and just general human decency! Basically “you might be as bad as him” in other words.

Whats more....my son has a conviction for an online viewing offence, not a contact one. Still absolutely no excuse for it but I do believe they are very different. So not only are they suggesting I could somehow allow access to children but they are assuming my son will make the leap to contact offences.

I have literally had enough of this. I just want a normal life. I feel as though I will forever be treated with suspicion now.

Mamabear, I just wanted to say what you have said really resonated with me. The degree of judgement we face, not just from ourselves but from everywhere. We can't escape it, it's not deserved and it's so unfair. X
