Hello,

I was wondering if someone can help me. My partner is looking for work, willing to take absolutely anything, but he's really struggling.

He applied for a job at the nearby factory - they've had 4 positions advertised. He got an interview offer that was swiftly withdrawn (most likely due to a Google Search - his case was in the media). When he asked why, the recruitment manager said they're not looking for anyone anymore - the jobs are still advertised.

This of course has been extremely disheartening. He just needs someone to give him a chance.

I lost count on how many jobs he applied for, improved his CV, attached a cover letter etc.

He got in touch with a charity called Unlock, only to be told they only cover England & Wales.

He filled in the contact form in hopes that another charity called Ex-Seed would get in touch - so far he heard nothing.

He met with a couple of people in job centre that encourage to just apply for benefits and offer no real support to actually look for work. No recommendations whatsoever.

It's just so frustrating. It feels like every time we get back up and take a step forward - we take two steps back.

Families based in Scotland: what is your experience of job hunting? Is there a charity or someone that could point us in the right direction?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi,

Try Next Chapter Scotland, 2 of the trustees have experience of the knock and fallout and may be able to help.

Good luck

Thank you for sharing The next chapter Scotland, I'd never heard of them.

Stronger than I thought, I don't have any useful input but maybe these people will be able to help.

I am also in Scotland, it's nice to talk to people that may be close by, Inturmoul has become a very good friend to me x
