Hi all

I'm new to forum. Have 39 year old son with me on bail. Been told he can find work, albeit maybe temporary, but am having difficulty conducting that conversation with him. Always an excuse not to,all very feasible but I'm thinking excuse on excuse. Really wanting to avoid rows as atmosphere already fragile at home (hubby is not son's dad) so I'm probably not as forthright as I should be. Any words of wisdom or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you. Frazzled lady

The law says he is innocent until proven guilty, so bail itself is not a good reason for finding work.

He could try "ban the box" employers who don't ask about convictions. Asda is one.

obviously it would be unwise to apply for jobs which would require working with under 18s. Night shift work is good because under18s aren't allowed to do it.

unlock is a good place to look for advice

Working could also be beneficial for him further into this journey with regard to court. However I am conscious that our people can also struggle with their own mental health demons on this journey and sometimes this barrier can stop them in their tracks.

Thanks to all for replies. Not good that we're all going through this but so good to be able to 'talk' to others, helps such a lot. Thank you
