So this is my first time posting on here but I've been reading and following along with a lot of peoples journeys for a while now , I'm sorry if this is a long post but I've kept this so close to my chest all this time I may just explode.

The knock came at around 7am back in September , he wasn't home as he leaves for work at 5.30 , so they went to arrest him at his work place , we have a child that was in bed at the time so they respected that and left the property until I took her to school , 2 ladies did stay in the property with me and it was the longest 2 hours of my life sat with strangers in my house not having any information on what was going on at that time , I did the school run and returned home and they had just about finished the search.

Around 1pm I got a phone call from the lead investigating officer on the case who I had met that morning when they came to arrest him , my OH had given permission for the police to be completely honest with me so I was then informed about what had happened.

he was released on bail at around 2pm with only the condition as he cannot be unattended with anyone under the age of 18 at any time.

social services called me the next day , had a brief chat for around 20 minutes and closed the case and I've not heard anything since from them , granted this can all change once it goes to court

his bail got extended a few times but the bail conditions stayed the same , he has been allowed to live at home this entire time but obviously just never to be left alone with our daughter ( or any child of course)

magistrates court is next week , he will be pleading guilty , his paper work advises he only has one charge and that's " attempted communication with someone under the age of 16 to obtain sexual gratification" attempted as it was a police decoy.

no photos were ever exchanged and no discussion of meeting up etc, they only found the one conversation on his devices also so it is an isolated offence , he's never had any previous run ins with the law not even a speeding ticket.

he's not a bad person he just made a bad decision one time and we've all been paying for it for months.

has anyone ever had a similar situation? I've found most posts I see include images etc? Do you think it could be kept in magistrates?

the closer we get to magistrates my anxiety heightens that our life could change forever if he has to move out , we would be emotionally and financially screwed

thank you for reading if you got this far x

Hello Momofone - I cant really be helpful because I am at an even earlier stage in this horrible journey as our case is still with CPS. I just wanted to send you a big hug and lots of strength. Hopefully, some lovely ladies who might have a similar situation can give you more information.

Good morning my oh was magistrates but it was 5 images also an isolated incident, we also only ever had one meeting with social services and never been back in touch even after sentencing, my oh was allowed to be at home alone with daughter but she was 13 and new everything as we were very honest she was at home when the knock happened, my best advice is see magistrates court as the next step of the journey to being able to move on from the dreadful situation and you need the court part to happen.

I am a message away if I can help in any way x

Thank you so much both! I'm praying it could be the end of it if it's able to stay in magistrates! Just a waiting game isn't it x

I just wanted to say well done for reaching out, sometimes it's so hard to do. I too can't help as my OH was one communication and a small amount of images. I was under the impression from my OHs solicitor that they see communication as more severe than images so I would suspect it will go to Crown. Someone else may say otherwise.

Hopefully with an otherwise good track record and perhaps strong mitigation he may be lucky.

Good to see your case hasn't been dragged out for ages, less than a year seems very quick these days. Way over two years for us and still waiting for the OIC to send the report to the CPS, sorry I repeat myself too much on here, I just get so frustrated.

Fingers crossed for you X

Hello Momofone this is exactly the same story as my OH. Same charge and everything!! Please feel free to message me anytime. It was also a decoy, no images no incitement or anything else.

i have lots of advise regarding the magistrates definitely go with him as the solicitor even referred to me in the room which the mags seemed please with that my OH had support.
thinking of you xx

Thanks for all the replies!

Haze , what was the outcome of your persons case if you don't mind me asking? Was it kept in the magistrates? I know it's an absolute lottery when it comes to results! X

Hi, this is my first time posting on here and your situation is identical to my son's. We are in Crown Court next week and my stress levels are now severe! Solicitors say they are hopeful of a suspended but cannot guarantee so be prepared for the worst, I.e. custodial.

Contact with my son by agencies has been very poor, trying to engage with Probabtion is exhausting and have been advised they my not speak to him until the day.

References and engagement info for therapy sessions all uploaded by solicitors who say the judge will read the day before.

Does anyone on here have any other advice for me?
