CPS Timescales

I apologise if this has been asked hundreds of times before but I was just wondering what your experience was with cps timescales. Hubby's report was sent to the cps last week, nothing found on his phone but he was arrested for a communication offence. How long does it take to receive a decision? How are charges received if there are any? I'm so stressed out.
Can't help or offer any advice but I've been wondering the same. I'm still very early in our journey, my person is the same offence. Hopefully someone else can help you though :)
Hi, ive been told that there is a big back log with CPS. Evidence was sent to them in February and was told it would be about 8-10 weeks. It's been 4mths so far.
sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Everything in this journey takes such a long time. The knock will have been 2yrs ago on the 21st June!!!

Thank you for your reply. I'm so sorry this nightmare seems to be going on so long for you, it's so frustrating. I think we have been lucky so far with timescales of the investigation as the knock was in September 2023 and the report went to the cps last week so it's only been 9 months so far which seems to be quicker than a lot of cases that I've read. I was just wondering if different areas had different cps timescales or if it's just luck with some being quicker than others. Xx
I think it is different in different areas, much of it also depends how proactive your OIC is. Ours hasn't even sent the report to the CPS yet and second interview was back in March! (Sorry I say this so much, am like a stuck record). Our area apparently has a 5 month backlog with CPS. Hope it isn't that long for you.
Another bit of info is that whilst there are 39 police forces in England there are only 14 CPS regional teams. Maybe some are bigger than others but it shows how everything can get into a bottleneck once it goes to CPS.....although from people's feedback it does seem to be quicker than the investigating bit but surely nothing could be slower than that!
