My Son was contacted today by the police saying he was late signing the register and he'd need to be interviewed. He had a chat over the phone explaining his registration was in July every year but apparently because he registered earlier last year he should have done it the same time this year!! We were told you can go early just not late. Does the date change if you sign earlier? I am so worried now that he will have to go back to prison for a simple misunderstanding. He's been to the station and signed now, asked the guy on the desk if the officer wanted to see him, he went and checked and they said no. But don't feel we've heard the end too this. We only got him to go earlier last year as me and my husband were going on holiday and wanted to not have anything to worry about while we were away. We have July marked on the calendar every year. It's so stressful. Any advice please x

Hi Sunshine, I'm so sorry to know that you've now got this to worry about. The date of my son's registration changes each time he updates any information held. For example, new games console, new bank account, an new under 18 year staying in the house for more than 12 hours etc. Each time he calls into the police station to give them new details they reset the date from that day.
Hopefully they will realise that your son has made a simple mistake and just let it be a lesson learned.

I hope you are right. I can't understand why when they came for a home visit two weeks ago they didn't make a prompt. He's done so well since being released. He no longer takes antidepressants, has managed to get a job and loves it. Wants to get his own place soon and seems more settled in life than he ever has been. I just don't want his world crashing down around him again. We live in a small town and it was plastered all over the press including the use of the P word when he was in court!! So to have overcome all of this and have been able to take control of his destiny is a great achievement.

I feel there will be more sleepless nights to come sadly
