So my OH's case has been sent to CPS and we are waiting to hear back. I've been looking into private solicitors advice as we were told while it was just being investigated it's not necessary to get a solicitor involved yet (how naive).

The only chance of defence my partner has had is being invited to one interview with a duty solicitor who was useless.

Is it still worth getting a private solicitor now that this has gone to CPS?

I feel this whole investigation has just been a lot of waiting and now everything is happening at once. I don't feel like we've been treated fairly. I'm so scared that it's now too late to get any help.

No its definitely not too late - we were told that until the charges came back from the CPS there is actually very little that a solicitor can do.

Son had duty Solicitor present for the interview when he was arrested but we decided to go with another solicitor who specialises in Criminal law- duty solicitors don't tend to be expert in this area.

Once you know what the charges are then the work can begin on preparing character references and defence statements.

Please feel free to message me if you need any further information.

Absolutely not too late. In fact I don't think the solicitor my OH used did very much at all prior to charges.

i would recommend looking at one of the firms which specialise in this area - Stone King are one

We are at the same stage as you and waiting for the outcome of the CPS decision. Hubby hasn't got a solicitor yet as we were told there is not much they can do until there are any charges, so although we have been looking for a solicitor we haven't yet appointed one xx

I can recommend James McAuley from ABR Solicitors. James is an expert and travels all over the country. He also cares about his clients and is passionate in what he does. In certain cases he also offers Legal Aid.

Thank you everyone this has given me some hope. One of the hardest things going through this whole thing is not knowing what you can do and when the right time is to try and help our people through this. Xx
