My OH had his crown court plea hearing today. When he went to magistrates he was advised to plead guilty after speaking to his solicitor.

So today when he went in front of the judge, he pleaded not guilty. But the judge said to his barrister to get my oh to admit that he's got a problem. There is no denying that the iioc were on his computer but at the time of the knock he was in the middle of an adult porn addiction. He would just download a load of porn one day and the next day would delete it all without looking at it.

The solicitor advised him to change his plea as the judge said he wouldn't be sending him to prison but he can't guarantee that outcome if it goes to trial. We had a different solicitor today than at the magistrates and we got the impression from the solicitor today that he didn't believe my oh wasn't guilty. And we got the impression from the solicitor that I shouldn't be supporting him either.

When we went back in front of the judge and he pleaded guilty, we were quite shocked with what the judge said as it doesn't reflect who my oh is. He said that when he talks to probation to admit that he is attracted to children and will be going on the SOR. I couldn't believe what I was hearing as he is not attracted to children. I am not being naive. If I thought he was, I wouldn't let him anywhere near our 2 daughters and baby granddaughter. I know he has been incredibly stupid but he doesn't deserve to go on the SOR. He has never actively looked for images but that was what the judge was implying. In fact if he was doing anything dodgy he knows how to cover his tracks. He thought he was downloading legal adult porn and it should never had got to this.

We stayed at magistrates went with the not guilty he was found guilty at trial, a link of numbers he clicked on when on an adult porn sight and it came up illoc images 5 in total in the file 2 cat a 3 cat b, he was sentenced to 1 year sor, 180 hours payback and 1 year supervision, the judge concluded he didn't believe he searched for it but he never reported to the police what he accidently clicked on, honestly who would report that he literally deleted it and never went back on porn either which was all proven with cyber report

Dawn, I'm so sorry you've had to go through such a traumatic day at court. It's hard enough for a our people to have to stand in court without having to hear the judge say things like that.

You know your person and that what counts. Sending you both my support and best wishes.

Hi, unfortunately downloading files but not looking at them isn't a defence. I'm sorry for what you're going through. X

Thank you Intermoil, hoping his sentence won't be too severe.

Thank you Ocean and Upset for your kind words. I do know my OH. SS spoke to our 14year old daughter at the time and quickly closed the case as they didn't think there was anything untoward.

Littlerobin - I know it isn't a defense, but for the judge to say he is attracted to children, that is a big leap.

Smile - I'm beginning to not trust officials how. The solicitor basically said to my OH that he was lucky to have my support. And he said that if he did what my OH has done, that his wife would leave him.
