Is anyone else concerned about rioters being put on remand alongside our offenders. My son is on a Vulnerable Person wing, will he be safe?

From my understanding, people that committed the stuff our people did, are always on their own wing and not mixed with other prisoners xx

I was under the impression on the vulnerable wing of a prison they are mixed with other 'vulnerable' people. OR is this while they are being held on remand?

its only on the other wings in the general prison they are separate. Obviously no segregation in a sex offenders prison.

I apologise if I'm wrong on this one .....

I think all of the above comments describe how it works.

I think another issue for our people who are pre-sentencing is even more delays as the courts are going to be overworked even with the 24 hour plans. Maybe not at plea because that could be a bit of a conveyor belt, but for sentencing it would have to be much more time consuming in most cases with reports, mitigation etc. And also for the near future, police being called from their 'dayjobs' to supplement needs at riot hot spots is also going to cause delays for many of our people.....I'm only surmising here but it was what my first thoughts were. More waiting!!!!!! But on a glass half full side, just maybe the influx of so many sentences of prison time for the rioters/looters, might cause a trend towards suspended sentences generally???? Who knows!?

If someone is vulnerable then they go into the VPU, regardless of if they are on remand or not.

Remand prisoners also tend to go to Cat B prisons, while most of the people serving sentences for low level sex crimes are in Cat C prisons.

Hi, they won't be put in with our people. Our people are put on the vulnerable wing with other sex offenders. My person spent 18 months inside including 6 weeks on remand and was safe. X
