I am in exactly the same position although the police confirmed downloaded content was found. I was going to ask the same about what happens

If nothing shows up in the devices, unless there has been an admission of guilt, then there likely will be insufficient evidence to bring charges, so no court, no criminal record, no prison or probation, no sex offenders register or Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

HOWEVER the NFA isn't a clean bill of health, just saying there is not evidence for criminal action to prove a crime beyond reasonable doubt.

If he is in a job working with children, it may well still show on an emhanced DRB check.

Social services may still have concerns and want to maintain safety plans and contact supervision.

Police can apply to the civil courts for a Sexual Risk Order, which is like a Sexual Harm Prevention Order but not imposed by criminal courts. It is basically like an injunction putting restrictions on him, e.g. that police could monitor his internet use. These don't need as much evidence as for a criminal case. If he breaches this order, that in itself is a criminal offence.
